Here's what Lehle say about the Sunday Driver II:

The LEHLE SUNDAY DRIVER II is a high-end preamp and DI box all in a conveniently compact format.

Its circuit is based on a discrete Class A circuit with JFET technology and provides two modes of operation, selected by a mode selector switch with gold-plated contacts: "D" stands for Driver: in this mode, your guitar signal is amplified, with absolutely no modification, at the input impedance of a guitar amp, efficiently eliminating losses on the route through leads and effects; the signal remains strong and clear, retaining its full dynamics.

The second setting "S" – as in Sunday – multiplies the input impedance by five, bringing out previously inaudible details and, as gain increases, giving your guitar a characteristic and unmistakable warmth that has given this preamp its name – the result is a sound as mellow as a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Even at the maximum +18 dB gain setting, the LEHLE SUNDAY DRIVER II always stays clean and absolutely free of background noise, thanks to its studio-standard overall dynamic range of 130 dB. To exploit the dynamics of tube amplifiers to the full, the input voltage is also rectified from the power supply socket, then filtered, stabilized and transformed to 30 V.

You can use it as a DI box on stage or as a high-end preamp in the studio as well: the output of the LEHLE SUNDAY DRIVER II can be tapped in balanced and the pedal be powered via phantom power.

Whether as a cable driver for stadium gigs, in complex effects setups, or as a recording preamp – with its broad output range of 20 to 100,000 Hz, the LEHLE SUNDAY DRIVER II can be used anywhere. And not just on Sundays.

Brand

Lehle

Lehle is a high-end manufacturer of guitar pedals, known for their precision engineering and sophisticated signal routing capabilities. The brand is highly regarded for its innovative designs, particularly in the realm of volume pedals and signal processors. Their products, such as the Lehle Mono Volume S and Lehle Parallel SW II, are favoured by musicians for their transparency, tonal clarity, and durability. The Mono Volume S, for example, offers a smooth operation with low friction bearings and a boost function that can enhance the gain for specific tones. It also features programmable presets, a USB-C socket for calibration and updates, and a buffered direct output, making it versatile and highly functional for modern pedalboards.

Lehle pedals are built with high-quality components, including discrete Class-A input stages, which contribute to their excellent dynamic range and ability to handle various instruments, from electric guitars to keyboards. Their use of true-bypass circuits and advanced switching technology ensures minimal signal loss, allowing musicians to maintain the integrity of their sound even when switching between effects.

Boost

A boost pedal does one simple thing brilliantly — it makes your signal louder, stronger, and more alive. Whether you’re pushing a valve amp into natural breakup, lifting a solo above the band, or adding a touch more presence to your core tone, a clean boost gives you extra headroom without changing your character.

Use it at the front of your chain to drive other pedals harder, or after your gain stages to raise volume without adding distortion. Subtle or powerful, transparent or slightly coloured, a boost is one of the most useful tools on any pedalboard — small box, big difference.

Buffer

A buffer pedal protects your tone when your signal has a long journey to travel. As cables and multiple pedals build up, high frequencies can fade and your sound can lose clarity. A buffer restores strength and sparkle, keeping your signal full, punchy, and consistent from guitar to amp.

Use a buffer at the start of a large pedalboard, after vintage true-bypass chains, or anywhere your tone feels dull or weak. It doesn’t add gain or colour — it simply preserves what you already have, making sure your core sound arrives exactly as it should.

DI

A DI pedal (Direct Injection) lets you send your signal straight to a mixing desk or audio interface with clarity and confidence. It converts your instrument’s output into a balanced signal, reducing noise and allowing for longer cable runs without losing quality. Whether you’re playing live or recording, a good DI keeps your tone clean, controlled, and stage-ready.

Use a DI to go direct at a gig, split your signal between amp and PA, or capture a pure track in the studio. It’s a practical, dependable tool that ensures what leaves your pedalboard arrives exactly as intended — solid, noise-free, and ready for the mix.

New

This is brand new, fresh in, and a UK warranty is included. New Gear always comes from trusted UK music retailers.

Preamp

A preamp pedal shapes and boosts your guitar’s signal before it reaches your amp or recording interface, giving you control over tone, gain, and headroom. It acts as the first stage of amplification, adding warmth, clarity, and character while preparing your signal for the next part of the chain. Some preamps emulate the response of classic valve circuits, while others offer clean, transparent tone shaping ideal for acoustic instruments or direct recording setups.

Used on its own, a preamp pedal can serve as the foundation of your tone, providing a consistent core sound wherever you play. When combined with other effects, it enhances dynamics and helps each pedal sound more defined and natural. Whether you’re looking to push your amp harder, bring life to a dull signal, or refine your sound for the studio, a good preamp pedal adds presence, punch, and musicality to any rig.

used

Used pedals bring character, value, and often a bit of history to your board. Whether it’s a well-loved classic or a recent release looking for its next home, a used pedal offers the same core tone at a more accessible price. Fully tested and described clearly, it’s a chance to grab great gear without paying brand-new money.

Go used to explore different sounds, track down discontinued favourites, or build your setup more affordably. Sometimes a pedal with a few marks on the casing still delivers flawless tone — and might even have a story or two behind it.
