Here's What Origin Effects Say About the Deluxe 61 Amp Tremolo & Drive Pedal

The Deluxe 61 (previously the RevivalTREM) is the first ever pedal to faithfully recreate power tube bias tremolo, the sought-after effect found in a handful of classic amps from the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. More than just a tremolo pedal, the Deluxe 61 Amp Tremolo & Drive Pedal also delivers a deliciously chewy and rich Brown Fender-style overdrive tone that interact with the bias tremolo effect just like the real thing.

True power tube bias tremolo, in a pedal!

Based on the Deluxe 61 Amp Tremolo & Drive Pedal platform, the Deluxe 61 houses a complete valve amp-style signal path recreated in all-analogue electronics.

This allows it to recreate the uniquely musical and dynamically responsive bias tremolo effect at circuit level, while also offering a broad palette of stunning clean and overdriven amp tones voiced after the Brown Fender Deluxe.

A range of modern features, including switchable wave shapes, tap tempo, rhythmic subdivisions and effects switcher integration, bring modern convenience to the Deluxe 61 authentic vintage tones.

Dynamically responsive tremolo

Smooth, deep and rich, bias tremolo is considered by many to be the pinnacle of built-in amp trem. In contrast to optical and VCA-based tremolo designs, which attenuate the signal itself, bias tremolo works by varying the bias voltage fed to the amp’s power tubes, giving the effect its unique character and almost magical dynamic qualities.

While other tremolos impose themselves on top of your playing, bias tremolo has the capacity to respond to it. As power amp gain increases, loud notes and chords are able to rise above the effects of bias modulation. Digging in harder allows you to “play over” the tremolo effect, before letting it fade back in as the note dies away or you soften your pick attack.

The Deluxe 61's amp-like circuitry reproduces this effect exactly, right down to the complex interaction between gain, bias voltage, playing dynamics and harmonic content.

Authentic Deluxe tones, from clean to mean

In the designing of the The Deluxe 61, we worked hard to distil the complex functionality of the original pedal into an intuitive set of controls while still retaining as much range as possible.

The brand-new Highs control takes the original pedal’s three distinct preamp voicing modes and maps them onto a single, continuous knob that offers a wealth of new in-between settings.

We also redesigned the Blend knob to simultaneously back off the gain as you mix in your clean tone, ensuring pleasing, musical results throughout the control’s travel.

Vintage tremolo meets modern features

As well as a wider range of Speed and Intensity settings, we’ve provided two different LFO wave shapes – a smooth, Deluxe-style sine wave and a less symmetrical, Magnatone-style rectified sine wave.

Attaching an external footswitch enables tap tempo and remote tremolo on/off switching, while the same footswitch input allows direct integration with effects switching systems like the Boss ES series or TheGigRig G2. The The Deluxe 61's speed multiplier switch offers quarter-note, eighth-note and triplet tempo subdivisions while also shifting the range of the pedal’s Speed knob.

With high-quality components throughout, the The Deluxe 61's is designed and built for professional performance and rock-solid reliability.

Please note: the The Deluxe 61's is powered by a mains adaptor only (not included). We’ve dispensed with the usual 9V battery option, both to save space and to allow us to adopt a high-current approach, yielding lower noise levels and superior tone.

Tasty Pedals made by Origin

Amp — An amp pedal, often referred to as an amp simulator pedal or amp modeling pedal, is a type of effects pedal designed to emulate the sound and characteristics of various guitar amplifiers. By using digital or analog processing, these pedals replicate the tonal qualities, gain stages, and tonal response of different types of amplifiers, such as vintage tube amps, high-gain modern amps, or classic solid-state models. Amp pedals are typically used to shape a guitarist’s tone without needing to rely on multiple physical amplifiers. They offer a range of preset or adjustable sounds that mimic the effects of different amp types, including their distinctive overdrive, distortion, and EQ settings. Some amp pedals also include additional features like cabinet simulations, which mimic the sound of different speaker cabinets, and built-in effects like reverb and delay. This makes them a versatile tool for achieving a variety of tones and sounds, whether in a practice setting, recording studio, or live performance, providing convenience and flexibility in a compact form.. Drive — A drive pedal adds grit, warmth, and harmonic richness by gently overdriving your guitar signal, simulating the sound of a tube amp pushed into natural breakup. It works by boosting the signal until it begins to clip softly, producing smooth, musical distortion that enhances dynamics without overwhelming the original tone. Drive pedals are perfect for adding sustain and body to clean tones or giving solos extra bite and presence. There are many flavours of drive — from transparent low-gain pedals that subtly enhance your sound, to midrange-heavy overdrives like the Tube Screamer that cut through a mix. They can be used to push an amp harder, stack with other pedals, or simply shape the foundation of your tone. A good drive pedal responds to your touch, letting you control everything from gentle crunch to singing sustain just by adjusting your picking dynamics or guitar volume.. Effects — An effect is a modification applied to the instrument’s sound to alter its tonal characteristics, dynamics, or spatial properties. Effects can be achieved through electronic devices such as pedals, processors, or built-in effects units, and they offer a wide range of sonic possibilities. Musicians use effects to enhance their sound, create unique textures, and expand the expressive capabilities of their instruments across various musical genres.. Guitar Pedals — Your pedal is like a signature dish for your sound — a flavour-packed creation that transforms the bland ingredients of your guitar into something unforgettable. Each one adds its own seasoning, texture, and heat, turning a simple meal into a feast of tone. These tasty little boxes sit in a row, like plates on a buffet, letting you mix and match flavours as you play. With one tap of your foot, you can swap sweet for spicy, subtle for smoky, and serve up something completely new. From the comfort food of warm overdrive to the fiery kick of fuzz, from smooth jazz sauce to heavy-metal spice, pedals give players a full menu of options to express their taste.  And just like with food, once you’ve tried one dish, you’ll want to sample them all. Tremolo — A tremolo pedal modulates the volume of your guitar signal up and down in a rhythmic pattern, creating a pulsing or wavering effect that can sound vintage and hypnotic or sharp and choppy depending on the settings. It’s one of the oldest effects in guitar history, famously used on classic amps from the 1950s and ’60s. Most tremolo pedals let you control the speed, depth, and wave shape, allowing you to go from smooth, subtle swells to intense stuttering tones. It’s a simple but expressive effect that adds movement and character to your sound..
