The RockBoard® Natural Sound Buffer V2 preserves the natural sound of a guitar or bass in conjunction with effect pedals, and prevents signal loss. Musicians who use elaborate effects pedal setups especially know this problem: long cable runs and effects chains cause an unintended change in their guitar tone. Loss of high frequencies makes the sound dull and changes its characteristics in an undesirable way. We have the solution: The RockBoard® Natural Sound Buffer V2!

It features an op-amp-based buffer circuit that takes the high impedance output signal, converts it to a low impedance signal, and gives it an inaudible amount of additional gain.

The RockBoard® Natural Sound Buffer V2 will be traditionally inserted between the instrument and the first stomp box in the chain. In this way, it will feed the rest of the signal chain the natural sound of your tone, without distortion and without additional noise and will help you drive long cable runs without any frequency loss. Simply connect a stabilised 9V DC power adapter – 2.1 x 5.5 mm barrel plug, negative centre polarity – (not included) like the RockBoard® Power Ace to the power supply input, plug your instrument into the input jack of the RockBoard® Natural Sound Buffer, and the output jack to the first stomp box in the effect chain. However, with certain effects pedals that require high impedance input signals, like many fuzzes, there can be undesired effects like distortion or feedback, if they are placed after the Natural Sound Buffer V2 in the signal chain. Should you experience any unwanted effects in when using effects pedals in conjunction with the RockBoard® Natural Sound Buffer V2, experiment with the placement of the RockBoard® in your signal chain to utilise its full potential.

Distortion

Distortion pedals take your clean guitar signal and transform it into something bigger, bolder, and full of attitude. By clipping the waveform, they add sustain, bite, and aggression, creating that thick, compressed tone that’s powered rock music for decades. From the growling crunch of classic hard rock to the tight, saturated roar of modern metal, distortion is all about energy and presence. It gives every note weight and authority, pushing your amp to its limits and beyond.

There are countless flavours of distortion, each with its own texture and edge. Some sound smooth and creamy, others raw and gnarly like tearing fabric. It’s the sonic equivalent of turning up the heat until the sound cooks — rich, sizzling, and perfectly seasoned to taste. Whether used for rhythm muscle or soaring leads, a good distortion pedal doesn’t just add volume; it adds personality, grit, and that unmistakable sense of power under your fingers.
