The Gurus DoubleDecker MKII is a dual overdrive/distortion pedal packed with versatility. Gurus set out to capture the feel of a cranked amp, taking a fresh approach compared to the usual “Marshall tone” clones.

Starting with a high-voltage tube preamp (150–300V!) and their secret weapon op-amp, this pedal delivers rich harmonics, dynamic response and incredible touch sensitivity. Gurus even worked with artists lucky enough to have their amps modded by the legendary Jose Arredondo. His famous “Jose Mod” was used by icons like EVH, Steve Vai, Doug Aldrich, Peter Frampton, Metallica, George Lynch and more. As a tribute, Gurus added two unique clipping sections for fine-tuning when running the channels independently — making it easy to dial in killer tones!

Two-channel design, loads of control

Both channels share the same layout: Volume and Gain (driven by the tube stage + op-amp), plus a passive tone stack with a clever Presence control to add sparkle without thinning out your low end. Channel II offers a touch more gain, and the real magic comes from the clipping options.

Key Features

  • Pedalboard-friendly size: Just 3.5″ x 5″ — that’s tiny for a dual tube-powered pedal!
  • Flexible routing: Run as a single pedal or split into two loops if you’re using a pedal switcher. You can even flip the channel order for endless boost options.
  • Simple switching: Two footswitches, stackable channels and a clipping toggle give you a massive tonal palette.
  • Dual clipping modes: Floor I uses Germanium diodes for smooth, amp-like breakup. Floor II packs LED diodes for rich, compressed lead tones.

Overdrive Pedals

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit and amplifier-like breakup to your guitar tone. They can be used as a light always-on tone enhancer, a bluesy crunch box, a mid-focused solo boost or a way to push a valve amp into richer saturation.

Different overdrive circuits have very different personalities, from transparent low-gain pedals to classic mid-hump designs and heavier modern drives. They are one of the most important pedal types because they respond to picking dynamics, guitar volume and the character of your amplifier.
