The TC Electronic AmpWorx High-Gain Series V550 is a dual-channel guitar preamp pedal. It faithfully recreates the searing sound of an iconic American valve amplifer that was first released in 1992, but in a convenient and compact stompbox with independent channel controls, a foot-switchable pre/post boost, an official Celestion cab sim IR, and dedicated DI/headphone outputs.

The original tube-driven amp that the V550 is based on is a modern classic, originally designed in collaboration with Eddie Van Halen. While a hard rocker himself, this influential amplifier later found favour with heavier metal artists who made use of its incredible high-gain channel — including Robb Flynn (Machine Head), Matt Tuck (Bullet for my Valentine) and Drew Goddard (Karnivool). And now, you can get your hands — and feet — on this coveted guitar sound but in a far more portable package, and at an affordable price-point to boot!

Key Features

Faithfully recreates the tone, touch and feel of the legendary MK1 "script logo" 5150 tube amp from 1992.
Two channels with independent gain, volume and EQ controls. Green channel (rhythm & crunch) ranges from pristine cleans through to hard rock grit, while the red channel (lead) delivers huge levels of gain for heavy rock, classic shred and brutal metal tones.
Integrated booster activates 5 dB of boost at the kick of a footswitch with pre/post option on the back panel.
The pre boost is dialled in to drive the amp model harder, and adds a distinct mid hump like a classic "green" overdrive pedal. The post boost setting adds volume without changing your core sound — it just makes it louder!
Dedicated DI output, equipped with an official Celestion 4×12" G12M Heritage cab sim IR, turns your pedalboard into a gig-ready rig that you can plug directly into a PA system, or an audio interface for recording.
Headphone output equipped with the very same Celestion cab sim IR, for huge tube amp tones straight to your ears. No more annoying the neighbours!
Set-it-and-forget-it master presence control on the rear panel lets you tailor the preamp and compensate for darker or brighter rigs and rooms.
An optional bypass mode can be activated by pressing the 'Boost' and 'Channel' footswitches at the same time. This allows you to punch the pedal in whenever you want, if you're using it like a standard stompbox into a guitar amp.
