We said it when it was first released, but now the verdict is in from the man himself: Brian May stated in the June issue of Guitar World that there’s only one stompbox out there capable of nailing his signature sound, and that piece of kit is none other than the Catalinbread Galileo. Though it was not designed in tandem with the man himself, perhaps no other pedal in our line required as much R&D as the Galileo, and we think that after so many years it still comes closer than anything else in the marketplace. To commemorate such a glowing endorsement, we’re releasing the limited “Red Special” colorway, patterned after Mr. May’s signature guitar, a must-have for doing the fandango.
Controls
- Vol: Turn it up, volume goes up.
- Tone: While AC30s offer treble and bass controls, May never cared much for the bass side. This Tone control governs the amount of treble present in the signal, making it very useful for brightening up a dark amp or post-Galileo drive pedal. The Galileo’s Tone knob also goes well beyond the boundaries of a normal AC30, providing a different flavour of Vox that stands out in any mix.
- Gain:Just like a real AC30, this controls the amount of distortion present in the signal, from the light-breakup “jangly” sound for which the clean AC30 is known to blistering leads when cranked. This control is highly interactive with your guitar’s knobs and any outboard, guitar-mounted switching you have.
Ingredient Allergy Warning : Product may contain nuts.
