JHS are well-known pedal fanatics. They often take their designs and improve them until they are the absolute best they can be. The Moonshine V2 is a result of that ethos. With the charm of the original Moonshine intact, the V2 has been refined for increased versatility and a more powerful drive tone!

Sounds

The Moonshine is loved for its gnarly, gritty tone, essentially producing a highly modified version of the famous Tubescreamer mids push we all know and love. With many pedal manufacturers going down the “transparent” overdrive route these days, the Moonshine is an unapologetically different beast with its own character and voice.

The V2 largely retains its unique TS on steroids sound, capable of delivering low-gain breakup to searing high-gain, thanks to its “Proof” toggle switch. The down position provides a mid-boosted tone with plenty of saturation and distortion on tap. Flick the switch up for a broader, more open crunch that is great for classic rock or blues.

Typical Drive, Tone and Volume controls give you enough flexibility to dial in your ideal overdrive tone, and with a pedal that sounds this good it should be easy!

What’s New for V2

The clean dial is the biggest improvement to the Moonshine. Allowing you to blend your clean, unaffected tone and the pedal’s distorted flavour, this control can let you achieve those timeless SRV-style characteristics.

Overdrive Pedals

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit and amplifier-like breakup to your guitar tone. They can be used as a light always-on tone enhancer, a bluesy crunch box, a mid-focused solo boost or a way to push a valve amp into richer saturation.

Different overdrive circuits have very different personalities, from transparent low-gain pedals to classic mid-hump designs and heavier modern drives. They are one of the most important pedal types because they respond to picking dynamics, guitar volume and the character of your amplifier.
