If you want classic “pie” fuzz tones from a compact pedal that can easily be squeezed into any crevice on your pedalboard — the Tone City Matcha Cream is perfect for you! It’s mini size is definitely deceiving though, as this tiny stompbox can deliver huge “wall-of-sound” fuzz that even the most scrupulous of shoe-gazers will admire.

Simple Control Set

Part of the appeal of Tone City’s pedals is their simplicity. With just three dials, the Matcha Cream allows you to easily adjust its gain (‘Sustain’) and volume levels, with a single ‘Tone’ EQ dial giving you precise control over the highs. Keep the tone low for sludgy, doom-metal guitar riffs, or crank it to really cut through the mix!

Lots of Fuzz Flavours

The tidy trio of sound-sculpting knobs work together in perfect harmony, to provide a wide array of BM-inspired tones. Nailing that saturated, “smashing” ’90s alternative rock sound, the Matcha Cream can also serve as a brilliant solo pedal — with its smooth and sustain-rich character (think David Gilmour). In short, the Tone City Matcha Cream is just a super-versatile little device that can be plenty of fun!

Small & Portable Design

Almost all Tone City pedals are built in mini enclosures, which helps to save precious real-estate on your pedalboard. But don’t worry, you don’t lose any sound quality with micro-sized stompboxes! Tone City uses high-quality components to construct its pedals, and with true bypass switching — your signal will remain as clean and pure as possible when the pedal is disengaged.

Please Note: This pedal will not work with a 9V battery, and requires a 9V DC power supply (not included).

Fuzz

A fuzz pedal is one of the earliest and most aggressive forms of distortion, turning your clean guitar signal into a thick, saturated wall of sound. It works by clipping the waveform almost flat, creating a compressed, gritty tone full of harmonic overtones. The result is raw, unruly, and unmistakable — from the sputtering breakup of vintage germanium circuits to the searing sustain of modern silicon designs. Fuzz pedals react strongly to your guitar’s volume and pickup choice, making them dynamic tools for expressive players.

Whether you’re chasing the classic tones of Hendrix and the Smashing Pumpkins or exploring heavy, experimental textures, fuzz remains a favourite for its personality and unpredictability. It can sound smooth and sustaining, or wild and velcro-like, depending on how it’s set up. A good fuzz pedal cuts through the mix while adding thickness and attitude, turning any riff or lead line into something bold and unmistakably alive.
