TC Electronic’s original Flashback delay pedal is a modern classic, seen on thousands of pedalboards across the world. Praised for its versatility, innovation and affordability; this digital delay pedal gave players a huge tonal palette of delay sounds. Also boasting a built-in looper and TC’s game-changing “TonePrint” technology, the original Flashback is iconic.

Now, TC Electronic have re-imagined their brilliant design and given it a few tweaks and updates. With a MASH footswitch just like their Hall of Fame 2 pedal, as well as a new delay engine and improved algorithms, this redesign gives you one of the most versatile pedals available!

Key Features

  • TonePrint Technology – TonePrint-enabled to let you beam cool signature tones into your pedal with the free TonePrint App
  • 3 TonePrint Saveable Slots – 3 dedicated TonePrint slots for storing signature effects
  • 8 Stunning Delays – 8 exceptional delays including hyper-realistic tape warble and self-oscillation
  • MASH – This is a specially-designed footswitch that reacts to pressure sensitivity, meaning that you can manipulate and affect the delay character by pressing down on the switch – similar to an expression pedal! The harder you press the switch, the more intense the effect will become. Each delay type has its own unique parameter that you can adjust with MASH, meaning you can experiment to your heart’s content!
  • Improved Algorithms – TC have updated their Tape and Analog delay algorithms, providing you with more genuine and realistic sounds. The Tape setting will decay like an old-school tape echo unit, with the signal degrading and fluttering with each repeat. The Analogue setting also reacts similarly, recapturing that vintage vibe.
  • Crystal Delay – This new delay engine takes inspiration from TC’s Sub ‘N’ Up Octave pedal, using part of its algorithm. With each delay repeat, the pitch will raise by an octave to deliver an incredible shimmer effect. Using the MASH feature will send this into self-oscillation, giving you some crazy ambient/experimental sounds.
  • Tap Tempo – Stereo input doubles as tap tempo input for controlling delay time with external pedal
  • Create Your Own Delays – Design your own customized delay effects from scratch with free TonePrint Editor for PC, Mac and iPad

Express Yourself!

MASH reacts to the amount of pressure you put on the switch. The harder you press, the more intense the effect. MASH is controllable through the free TonePrint Editor which means that, you can assign to any parameter and up to 3 parameters at once.

For each delay preset, MASH will control a different parameter and let you express yourself without having to bend down to turn knobs and without the trouble of getting a dedicated expression pedal.

For example, you can assign MASH to raise the delay time as you press down, subtly increase the delay feedback into full-blown self-oscillation, or gradually add and deepen chorus modulation for out-of-tune flutters.

New Tape and Analogue Algorithms

We seriously improved the Tape and Analog algorithms to make them more realistic than ever, displaying all of the idiosyncratic flutters and warbles reminiscent of the old days.

Twisting the Delay knob while playing will alter the pitch of the repeats and cranking the feedback sends the pedal spinning into self-oscillation ecstasy.

With MASH added to the mix, you no longer have to strain you back to reach down and twist knobs while mid solo.
Just set MASH to control the parameter you have in mind and rock!

New Crystal Delay

The tantalizing Crystal delay takes advantage the same cutting edge polyphonic octave algorithm that made the Sub ‘N’ Up Octaver a succes. By shifting the pitch of the delayed signal up an octave through each feedback loop, we’ve created an immaculate shimmer. MASHing in this setting sends the delays into self-oscillation, providing you with surges of incandescent tone.

Looper Pedals

A looper records a passage and plays it back repeatedly so additional parts can be overdubbed over the cycle. Loop length, audio quality, storage and the number of independent tracks define the basic capability. Undo, quantisation, synchronisation, rhythm guides, reverse and half-speed functions determine how recordings can be corrected, transformed and aligned with other equipment.

Tags

Delay

Creates one or more time-separated copies of the signal. Delay time sets their spacing, feedback determines how many repeats continue, and filtering, modulation or saturation decides whether successive echoes remain clean, darken, wobble or break apart.

Digital

Converts the signal or control process into numerical data for algorithmic processing. Digital designs can provide precise timing, long memory, complex routing and repeatable presets; sample rate, conversion, internal resolution and latency influence fidelity and response.
