The SOMA Laboratory Harvezi Hazze is built for players and producers exploring experimental distortion across instruments and sources. At its core is a waveshaper based around a unijunction transistor an early semiconductor component with unusual behaviour. This single part allows the pedal to move smoothly between limiting distortion wave folding and signal generation. As you adjust the controls the response shifts gradually letting you fine tune anything from lightly coloured textures to aggressive broken sounds. It rewards careful listening and hands on tweaking rather than fixed presets. The signal path begins with an optical compressor that evens out dynamics before hitting the distortion stages. A dual mode amplifier lets you choose softer clipping or a more abrasive character rich in upper harmonics. After the waveshaper a flexible tone section helps rein things back in making the pedal workable with guitars basses drums and synthesizers.

Distortion Pedals
Distortion clips the waveform more firmly than overdrive, generating dense upper harmonics, longer sustain and a more compressed response. Circuit topology and filtering decide whether the sound is tight and focused, broad and aggressive, smooth or deliberately abrasive. Gain sets the amount of clipping, while pre- and post-distortion tone controls strongly influence low-end definition, midrange presence and high-frequency texture.

Stores complete groups of parameter values for later recall. The number of locations, switching time, spillover behaviour and whether presets include routing, expression and MIDI assignments determine how completely one sound can change into another.
