The Korg Pitchblack XS is not just a true bypass pedal that outputs the sound exactly as it went in, but now features a built-in ULTRA BUFFER. This is important as most electric guitars use passive pickups with a high impedance output. When using a cable you get a loss of tone often from high frequencies, after about 6 m/18 feet this problem gets worse the longer your cable is. A buffer increases the signal over long cables to avoid loss of tone, keeping it clean and clear, even when your pedal is off.

The Ultra Buffer improves the sound quality in bypass mode, so that you can still maintain audio quality even when using a long cable to connect to the tuner, or when inserting the tuner into a large effects board. On the Pitchblack XS, you can switch between true bypass and the Ultra Buffer, to set it to your taste and performance environment.

Tuner Pedals

A tuner pedal measures the input frequency and shows whether the played note is sharp, flat or in tune. Detection speed, display resolution and note range affect accuracy, especially for low tunings and extended-range instruments. Buffered or true-bypass switching changes the signal path, while mute, strobe display, reference-pitch calibration and alternate-tuning modes shape operation.

True Bypass

Connects input directly to output through mechanical or relay switching when the effect is off, removing the active circuit from the audio path. It avoids buffer colour but leaves cable capacitance and switching design to influence high-frequency loss and possible switching noise.
