Own the tone that changed the world

Few artists had a greater impact on rock music in the late 1970s and early 1980s than the young Dutch-born guitarist who entered Sunset Sound Studios in 1978 to record what would become known as the Brown Sound, inspiring and influencing countless guitarists to expand their vocabulary and pursue that distinctive sound.

IK worked with Jim Gaustad, who has dedicated his career to precisely re-creating the Brown Sound, to develop a comprehensive anthology of Signature Collections available only for TONEX and TONEX ONE. Covering the Brown Sound’s evolution across six groundbreaking albums, these Tone Models document an artist’s tonal journey while transforming rock guitar forever.

Brown Sound Limited Edition

This custom TONEX ONE delivers the amazing tones of the TONEX Brown Sound Signature Collections directly to your pedalboard. Picture performing with the rich tones from those classic albums as part of your stage setup. There’s no easier way than with TONEX ONE.

Available in three colors, these ultra-compact pedals fit anywhere on your board and come pre-loaded with 20 carefully created presets using Tone Models from all three Brown Sound collections. Each pedal unlocks the Brown Sound 78/79 collection along with your choice of one other Brown Sound Signature Collection (a $/€199.98 software value).

TONEX One Power

Beneath the EVH-inspired paint job and eruptive signature tones, this pedal contains the same power, tonal flexibility, and ease-of-use as the regular TONEX One. Choose thousands of amps & rigs, load up and switch between your favourite presets, import your own impulse responses, and much more. Your entire rig in a pedal that fits in your pocket – real stompbox gamechanger.

In the current JustPedals catalogue, IK Multimedia is represented by Multi-Effects Pedals, Preamp & DI Pedals and Bass Effects Pedals. Current listings include ToneX, TONEX Board and TONEX One. That makes the range relevant to players looking for drive, gain and clipping, plus modelling, direct rigs and multi-effects. Check each model for its exact circuit or processing platform, controls, power requirements and connections, particularly where the catalogue includes both pedals and supporting gear.

Category

Specialist Effects Pedals

Specialist effects alter the signal in ways that do not sit cleanly inside one established family. They may use granular processing, frequency shifting, resonators, freeze or sustain, bit reduction, ring modulation, feedback networks or combinations of several techniques. The relevant distinction is the underlying process, its tracking or latency, and how completely the dry signal can be blended or replaced.

Tags

Mini Pedal

Mini pedals use a reduced-width enclosure to conserve pedalboard space. Their smaller format may limit battery access, footswitch spacing and the number or size of controls, while side-mounted sockets and power placement determine how much space is saved once connected. Check dimensions, power draw, control reach and output headroom, particularly if several mini pedals will be placed close together or controlled in low light.

Presets

Preset-capable products can store and recall effect settings, signal paths or control assignments. The useful differences are the number of locations, whether footswitches or MIDI can recall them, what parameters are saved, how quickly they change and whether trails continue between settings. Check editing, backup, firmware, expression and USB requirements, and confirm that the preset system covers the parameters you need rather than assuming every control is recalled.

Stereo

Stereo products provide separate left and right audio paths, which may widen modulation, preserve independent delays or route a pedalboard into two amplifiers or a mixer. Input and output behaviour is not always symmetrical: some units sum a stereo input, while others create stereo from a mono source. Check whether the effect collapses safely to mono, how the dry signal is routed, the socket format and the destination’s panning and phase requirements.
