Description

The Electro Harmonix MEL9 Tape Replay Machine is currently retailing at £215 and it is in stock. Available to be delivered to you by post direct (some charge may apply). The team at Just Pedals think that Electro Harmonix nailed it with the Electro Harmonix MEL9 Tape Replay Machine.

Electro Harmix have turned your guitar in to an organ with their B9 and C9 pedals. Then they set their eyes on changing it in to a keyboard with the Key9…Now they are changing it in to a Mellotron with the new Mel9. Built using the same zero latency technology the Mel9 completely changes your guitar signal in to that classic, warm, lo-fi sound that we associate with mellotrons.

9 New Sounds

In the Mel9 you have 9 completely new sounds that have not been on any EHX pedal before. From huge and smooth sounding orchestral and string based sounds that have enough power to fill a mix by itself. To smaller and more intricate options like the flute, clarinet and saxophone that have an incredible amount of dynamic control.

Here’s what Wlwctro Harmonix say about the MEL9

The polyphonic MEL9 uses the same extraordinary technology as the B9, C9 and KEY9 to transform your axe and resurrect the sound of vintage tape-based keyboards.

Tape

A tape pedal simulates the sound and characteristics of vintage tape delay machines, adding a warm, organic, and sometimes slightly warbled echo effect to a musician’s signal. Tape delay pedals recreate the tonal qualities of early analog delay systems, which used magnetic tape to record and repeat the audio signal. The result is often a rich, natural delay with a distinct, vintage character that adds a sense of movement and imperfection to the sound.

Tape delay pedals typically offer controls for delay time, feedback, and modulation, allowing musicians to dial in everything from subtle echoes to rhythmic repeats with tape-like saturation. Popular brands like Strymon and Electro-Harmonix produce tape delay pedals that capture the essence of classic tape machines while offering modern features, making them ideal for players seeking that retro, nostalgic delay tone in their setup.
