The Acapulco Gold is a very loud 1 knob fuzz/drive that perfectly captures the rock and roll mentality, stop filddling and get playing! Based on the great sounds of the vintage Sunn model T this has a very prominent and loud fuzz tone with a vintage vibe perfect for classic rock and even some more modern styles.

This is version 2 which has top-mounted jack inputs to save space on a pedalboard and a soft switch to withstand the rigours of touring.

1 Knob

We have all seen fuzz pedals with 7 different knobs and 3 mini toggles that all help you dial in the right tone. The Acapulco Gold doesn’t even go near that with just a single volume control. Set the tone and gain amount using your guitars master controls and let the pedal handle the output.

Very Responsive

With you guitars volume maxed this pedal is insanely heavy with fuzz like tones that just push right on through any mix. Dial it back just a little bit and you get more classic overdriven tones before getting in to classic mid gain nashville when you turn down even lower. The tone control also responds beautifully with this pedal letting you fit the pedal into almost any rig.

Here’s what Earthquaker say about the Acapulco Gold

Hey there, treasure hunters! The Acapulco Gold is a dirt-simple distortion Device based on the power section of a cranked vintage Sunn Model T, bringing the openness, clarity, and crunch that only a dimed tube amp can provide, at a fraction of the size, and without expensive maintenance costs!

Since tone is in the hands, we decided to keep the controls of the Acapulco Gold as simple as possible. The footswitch turns the pedal on and off, and the giant knob controls the output volume. That’s it. The rest is at your fingertips. Want less gain? Turn down your guitar’s volume knob. Need a darker rhythm tone? Roll back your guitar’s tone control. Easy, right?

With your guitars volume all the way up, the Acapulco Gold roars like a wide-open Model T on the verge of explosion. At just-barely-backed-off, the Gold becomes a raunchy overdrive. At minimum guitar volume settings, the Acapulco Gold delivers a hazy, Nashville-sounding spank to your tone.

How about this? If your guitar has separate volume and tone controls for each pickup and a three-way selector switch, this little one-knob banger becomes a three-channel tone monster at the flick of your wrist!

The Acapulco Gold is all-analog, true bypass, and built one-at-a-time by a wandering expedition of prospectors and speculators in dusty Akron, Ohio, USA the hamburger capital of the world.

The Acapulco Gold uses silent, relay-based soft-touch switching. Audio will not pass without power.

Distortion Pedals

Distortion clips the waveform more firmly than overdrive, generating dense upper harmonics, longer sustain and a more compressed response. Circuit topology and filtering decide whether the sound is tight and focused, broad and aggressive, smooth or deliberately abrasive. Gain sets the amount of clipping, while pre- and post-distortion tone controls strongly influence low-end definition, midrange presence and high-frequency texture.
