The Does It Doom Masochist is what happens when Matt Pike takes the concept of “pain equals power” and turns it into a pedal. It’s an absolute weapon, with two savage circuits capable of delivering their own flavour of sonic punishment — run them independently or stack them for ultimate devastation. Expect midrange attack sharp enough to split a mix in half and low-end so heavy it should come with a health warning!
Designed by Nick Williams of Dunwich Amplification and wrapped in Jordan Barlow’s stunning 5‑sided artwork, the Masochist is every bit the doom‑metal powerhouse you’d expect from Pike. Here’s a closer look at its two engines of tonal torment:
Adverto: The modified Harmonic Energizer
Adverto is a midrange scalpel honed for Matt Pike’s signature tone — perfect for leads that demand attention or rhythm parts that bulldoze everything in their path. Inspired by the vintage Harmonic Energizer, this circuit is all about snarling, focused mids, the kind that make Pike’s riffs in Sleep and High On Fire instantly recognisable.
Every control leans into the pedal’s dark sense of humour:

Saw (frequency): Sweep the midrange to find everything from deep, throaty grunt to high, cutting snarl. The magic lives right in the middle.
Whip (bandwidth): Tighten for a sharp, piercing mid spike, or widen for broader, more brutal impact.
Gag (volume): Set how much midrange assault you unleash. Subtle growl or full‑bore dominance — your call.
Hack (gain): Push into gritty, saturated overdrive that sounds like an amp fighting for its life. The more you hack it, the nastier it gets.

Ecce: The modded Sonic Titan
Ecce is the Masochist’s heavier, deeper side. Built for riffs that land like a sledgehammer, it’s based on Matt’s personal DAM Sonic Titan but offers far more control while keeping that core doom‑drenched power intact.
Dial it in with:

Bass/treble Baxandall EQ: Shape seismic lows or dial in snarling top-end with proper precision (a huge upgrade from the Titan’s original tone pot).
Volume: Set your overall output.
Drive: Go from gritty rumble to saturated wall-of-doom distortion.
Depth toggle (low-end at input): Left (full, huge, skull‑cracking), middle (tight and punchy), right (balanced and controlled).
Cut toggle (low-end shaping at boost): Left (thick and powerful), middle (more focused and cutting), right (deep, overwhelming low-end that consumes the mix).

Stack Adverto into Ecce and you get the full Matt Pike experience: midrange bite feeding into unstoppable low‑end weight. A perfect storm of clarity, aggression and earth‑moving power!Key Features
Relay-based, true bypass soft switching: Silent, reliable switching with a sealed relay for long‑term durability and zero tone colouration when bypassed.
Adjustable LED brightness: An internal trim pot lets you set the status LED brightness exactly where you like it — from subtle glow to stage‑blinding beacon.
Premium components: Built using Neutrik input/output jacks, a Lumberg power jack, ORMAT knobs, Alpha pots, a sealed relay, a metal LED bezel and mil‑spec aircraft‑grade wire for superb reliability and performance.

Guitar Pedals

Your pedal is like a signature dish for your sound — a flavour-packed creation that transforms the bland ingredients of your guitar into something unforgettable. Each one adds its own seasoning, texture, and heat, turning a simple meal into a feast of tone.

These tasty little boxes sit in a row, like plates on a buffet, letting you mix and match flavours as you play. With one tap of your foot, you can swap sweet for spicy, subtle for smoky, and serve up something completely new. From the comfort food of warm overdrive to the fiery kick of fuzz, from smooth jazz sauce to heavy-metal spice, pedals give players a full menu of options to express their taste.  And just like with food, once you’ve tried one dish, you’ll want to sample them all.

Collecting, trading, and discovering new flavours soon becomes part of the joy of being a tone-loving gourmet geek with a guitar.

Overdrive

Like a golden layer of melted cheese — warm, gooey, and just put it all over. It adds just the right amount of richness and grit, turning a clean signal into something smooth and savoury. Designed to mimic the natural breakup of a tube amp pushed to its sweet spot, overdrive delivers the flavour of classic rock and blues in every bite. From creamy mid-gain warmth to crisp edge-of-breakup sparkle, it’s the comfort food of guitar tone — simple, satisfying, and endlessly versatile. Whether it’s a mild crunch or a full-bodied roar, overdrive is where good taste begins.
