The DOD Badder Monkey takes the cult favourite Bad Monkey overdrive and evolves it into something far more mischievous. Built around the original Bad Monkey circuit it now adds two brand new voices Behaved and Badder each with their own character and punch. The patent-pending Barrel Control blends any two of the three circuits letting you move from subtle breakup to full-throttle chaos with just a twist. With EQ controls named Grunt and Screech plus a standard gain and level setup the Badder Monkey is all about giving guitarists and bassists a playful but seriously powerful toolbox of tones. A three-position toggle switch unlocks even more sounds letting the Bad circuit run in-phase out-of-phase for wild harmonic textures or letting all circuits roar together in Troop Mode. The reversible StagePlate is another first – choose the skid pad for grip onstage or flip it to the hook side for pedalboard-ready mounting. True bypass keeps your tone clean when the pedals off and standard 9V power means it drops easily into any rig. Packed with personality flexibility and a nod to its legendary origins the Badder Monkey is built to swing onto modern pedalboards everywhere.

DOD

DOD, or Digitech/DOD Electronics, is a renowned brand in the world of audio electronics, particularly known for its effects pedals for guitars and basses. The company was founded in 1973 by David Oreste Di Francesco and John Johnson, hence the acronym DOD. Initially focusing on guitar effects pedals, DOD gained prominence with its innovative designs and affordable yet high-quality products.

Throughout its history, DOD has produced a wide range of effects pedals, including overdrive/distortion pedals, delay units, chorus and flanger pedals, and more. Their pedals often feature robust construction, simple yet effective controls, and distinctive sound characteristics. Classics like the DOD Overdrive/Preamp 250 and the DOD Stereo Chorus have become staples on pedalboards of musicians across various genres.

In 1984, DOD was acquired by Harman International Industries, which also owned other prominent audio brands like AKG, JBL, and Lexicon. Under Harman’s ownership, DOD continued to innovate and release new pedals while maintaining its reputation for providing high-quality effects at accessible prices. Though there have been shifts in ownership and product lines over the years, DOD pedals remain highly regarded by musicians seeking reliable and versatile effects for their performances and recordings.

Overdrive Pedals

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit and amplifier-like breakup to your guitar tone. They can be used as a light always-on tone enhancer, a bluesy crunch box, a mid-focused solo boost or a way to push a valve amp into richer saturation.

Different overdrive circuits have very different personalities, from transparent low-gain pedals to classic mid-hump designs and heavier modern drives. They are one of the most important pedal types because they respond to picking dynamics, guitar volume and the character of your amplifier.

Overdrive pedals recreate the sound of an amplifier being pushed harder, adding warmth, breakup and sustain while still responding naturally to picking dynamics and guitar volume changes. They are one of the most important and widely used pedal types in modern guitar rigs.

Different overdrive circuits offer very different flavours, from transparent low-gain boost-style pedals through to mid-focused classic rock tones and heavier amp-like saturation.
