Description

The JHS Pedals Kodiak Tremolo with Tap Tempo Pedal is currently retailing at £199 and it is in stock. Available to be delivered to you by post direct (some charge may apply). The team at Just Pedals think that JHS Pedals nailed it with the JHS Pedals Kodiak Tremolo with Tap Tempo Pedal.

The JHS Kodiak is an all-encompassing tremolo designed to give you a classic clean modulation with loads of variety. Appropriately designed with a bear graphic, the Kodiak will wrap your tone in its furry effect.

Ratio and Wave settings

Use the ratio and wave knobs to get the most expansive array of sounds out of the Kodiak. Using the ratio, switch between quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets and sixteenths for increasingly faster speeds. Pick from Rhythmic, Square and Ramp soundwaves to drastically alter the timing and stutter of the effect. This Kodiak has a wealth of variation for unique takes on tremolo, like a classic choppy effect or shoegaze warbles.

A wet dial lets you blend the effect into the guitar signal, from dry to fully wet. Roll back on this and up on the volume to act as a preamp or driven boost. The speed does exactly was it says on the tin, offering everything from lingering passes to quick fluctuations.

Each dip cuts sound entirely so there's no bleed from overdrive or general noisiness. Go nuts experimenting with different pedal combinations.

Tap Tempo

You'll notice the two footswitches on the standard-sized stompbox. One being tap tempo, as this pedal is designed to work musically with your sound rather than random and dysfunctional. Simply press on it in time with the BPM of what you're playing to produce a rhythm-minded tremolo. Flick the switch on the side of the pedal to hook the Kodiak up with an expression pedal. This way you can change the rate on the fly for versatile live use.

Pedals

Guitar pedals, also known as stompboxes, are external effects units that modify a guitar’s signal when activated. They come in various types, including distortion, overdrive, delay, reverb, modulation, EQ, compression, and synth effects, each shaping the tone in different ways. Pedals are typically placed on a pedalboard and powered by batteries or an external power supply. They can be connected in series for a custom signal chain, allowing guitarists to create unique sounds. Popular pedal brands include Boss, Electro-Harmonix, Strymon, MXR, and EarthQuaker Devices, offering effects for every genre, from blues and rock to ambient and experimental music.

Tap

A tap pedal, often called a tap tempo pedal, allows musicians to manually set the tempo or speed of certain effects, such as delay or modulation, by tapping the pedal in time with the music. This feature is particularly useful for live performances, where the tempo of a song may change or the musician needs to sync their effects to the rhythm of the music on the fly.

Tap tempo pedals typically have a footswitch that responds to the musician’s taps, calculating the tempo based on the rhythm. This makes it easier to adjust effects like delay or chorus without needing to manually adjust settings or rely on preset tempos. Many modern delay, reverb, and modulation pedals from brands like Boss, TC Electronic, and Line 6 include a tap tempo feature, enhancing flexibility and control during performances.

Tremolo

Tremolo is a modulation effect that varies the volume of a guitar signal at a controlled speed and depth, creating a pulsing or wavering sound. This effect is achieved by rapidly increasing and decreasing the amplitude, producing anything from a subtle, shimmery movement to a dramatic, choppy stutter. Tremolo was one of the earliest built-in amp effects, famously used in vintage Fender amplifiers. Modern tremolo pedals offer classic analogue circuits or digital flexibility with features like tap tempo and wave shape control. Popular tremolo pedals include the Boss TR-2, Fulltone Supa-Trem, and Strymon Flint, making it a favourite for surf rock, blues, indie, and experimental music.
