The Dark Light is a dual reverb pedal that combines the awe-inspiring sonic qualities of both the Dark Star and Sunlight reverb pedals, seamlessly integrating, tweaking and expanding them to create one massive multi-reverb device.

With all the routing options you could want, including separate stereo, parallel mono, and series mono, Dark Light takes Dark Star’s dark pitch shifted, delayed, and bit crushed reverb voices and Sunlight’s bright modulated, comb filtered, and band-passed reverb voices and combines them into one massive sound to take your time with and drift away in.

Each pedal maintains its core sound and control set, then expands from there.

Key Features

  • Dual Reverb – Combines the Dark Star and Sunlight pedals into one pedal housing with multiple options for expression and routing.
  • Limited Edition – Only 2000 pieces are set to be made worldwide

Dual Reverbs

  • 3 Dark Star side modes
    • Pitch – adds two pitch-shifted voices to the reverb
    • Delay – adds a post-reverb delay capable of self-oscillating
    • Crush – degrades the quality of the reverb with adjustable pitch shift and amount of degradation
  • 3 Sunlight side modes
    • Tape – adds modulation inspired by unexpected tape machine wobbling
    • Comb – adds four short delay lines after the reverb creating a comb filter of a fixed phaser
    • Pass – adds a Band-Pass Filter between the two reverb blocks with random sample and hold LFO setting the filter’s cutoff frequency

Versatile Routing

Dark Light can be routed in many ways using the independent IN and OUT jacks of the Sunlight and Dark Star sides. Using all jacks, signal can be routed as True Stereo or Series Mono. Using just one IN-OUT pair, signal can be routed in Parallel Mono. When using one INPUT and both OUTPUTs, a Mono signal can be split to Stereo with Sunlight on one side and Dark Star on the other.

The pedal’s SPREAD control helps with this stereo separation. In stereo routing scenarios, this control will set the depth of the stereo field. All the way up, signal is completely isolated across Dark Star and Sunlight. All the way down, signal is equal on both sides, creating a phantom center. When routing in mono, we recommend setting this knob all the way down, if using Parallel Mono and all the way up for Series Mono routing.

Easy Control

Dark Light’s left and right footswitches turn the individual sides on and off. When tapped, they operate as standard latching footswitch. However, when held, they momentarily change the bypass state, returning to the original state after the switch is let go.

The pedal’s middle footswitch can indefinitely hold the reverb trails of both sides independently or together. Set the HOLD toggle to determine which side is affected by the footswitch. This footswitch can also be tapped for latching operation or held for momentary operation, and the LEDs above it will indicate when the reverb trail is held for each side.

Expression

The EXP jack can be used to externally control any combination of the CTRL 1, CTRL 2, Decay (Dark Star), Decay (Sunlight), Rate, Depth and Input controls, by connecting a TRS expression pedal with signal on the tip. By default, it is set to control CTRL 1 and Depth, but assigning your own expression functionality can be quickly and simply accomplished by holding down all three footswitches for about five seconds until the HOLD LEDs begin to blink.

A switch inside the pedal allows reverb trails to continue after the pedal is turned off. By default, Dark Light’s trails are ON and the pedal is Buffered Bypass when off. To cut reverb off when bypassed, set the switch to off. In this mode the pedal will be True Bypass.

Specifications

  • Soft-touch switching with switchable relay-based True Bypass/Buffered Trails Bypass
  • Powered by regular 9 V DC PSU (Center -, 2,1 mm, ~150 mA current draw)

Old Blood Noise Endeavors

Old Blood Noise Endeavors is a pedal manufacturer known for its creative and unconventional effects. Their pedals are designed to push the boundaries of traditional sound, often combining distortion, delay, and modulation effects in innovative ways. One example is their *Beam Splitter* pedal, which takes a single input signal and splits it into three different versions with varying delay times and overdrive tones. This results in a larger, more textured sound, ideal for those looking to create unique sonic landscapes. Their pedals also feature expressive controls such as Deviate, which introduces natural variations to delay times for a more organic feel.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors is also recognized for its distinctive pedal designs and collaboration with various artists, showcasing their commitment to producing high-quality, experimental tools for musicians. Their pedals are popular for both live performances and studio work, offering a range of effects from fuzz to reverb, each with a creative twist. This brand stands out for its bold approach to sound manipulation, making it a favourite among experimental musicians and those seeking to expand their sonic palette.

Reverb Pedals

Reverb pedals add the sense of space around your guitar, from small room ambience to spring tanks, halls, plates and huge atmospheric washes. They can make a dry guitar sound more natural, more polished or much more dramatic depending on the style of reverb used.

A subtle reverb can sit almost unnoticed behind your tone, while ambient and shimmer reverbs can become the main feature of a sound. Reverb pedals are essential for players who want depth, atmosphere and a more three-dimensional feel from their rig.

Reverb

Reverb pedals recreate the reflections and ambience of physical spaces, helping guitar tones feel larger, deeper and more immersive. Spring, plate, hall and shimmer reverbs all offer different textures ranging from subtle room ambience through to huge cinematic washes.

Modern reverb pedals are often central to ambient and atmospheric pedalboards, but they are equally valuable for adding polish and dimension to clean tones, lead parts and studio recordings.
