Phaser Pedals

Phaser pedals create moving notches in the frequency response by mixing phase-shifted signal paths with the dry sound. The number of stages, feedback, rate, depth, resonance and blend determine whether the effect is a gentle swirl, a sharp vocal sweep or a more pronounced, resonant pulse. Some designs offer envelope or expression control, while others keep the controls deliberately immediate. Before or after distortion changes the texture: before gain the phase movement is clipped into the note, while after gain it remains clearer. Check mono behaviour if the pedal is stereo-capable.

Uses continuous analogue circuitry for some or all of the audio path, so clipping, filtering or modulation arises from physical components rather than sampled algorithms. Check the exact signal path.

True Bypass

Connects input directly to output through mechanical or relay switching when the effect is off, removing the active circuit from the audio path. It avoids buffer colour but leaves cable capacitance and switching design to influence high-frequency loss and possible switching noise.
