The Gamechanger Audio Bigsby is a faithful reproduction of the legendary Bigsby tremolo arm, in a compact pedal form! The Bigsby accurately reproduces the string bending and vibrato effects made famous by the Bigsby tremolo arm and other traditional tremolo systems. In fact, the Bigsby's unique detune algorithm emulates the imperfections and properties of mechanical string-bending hardware so accurately, it's almost indistinguishable from a traditional Bigsby!

The Bigsby's specially developed hybrid algorithm delivers smooth polyphonic pitch-shifting in real time and at low intervals. It has been painstakingly tweaked to preserve the natural timbre and sound of electric and acoustic string instruments, including, guitars, basses, baritones, mandolins and banjos. Featuring a unique spring-loaded pedal design, the Bigsby seamlessly incorporates pitch bends into complex picking patterns and melodic lead lines for a uniquely expressive playing experience. Better still, you won't have to keep tweaking your guitar's tuning, which is often the case when using vintage tremolo/vibrato systems!

In addition to being packed with tonnes of vintage vibrato sounds, the Bigsby also boats plenty of features for the modern player. With full MIDI functionality and PC control over all parameters, you can easily save and recall presets, making it a great asset on the stage or in the studio. The Blend control unlocks some incredible chorus and harmoniser sounds whilst the expression output lets you take control of other audio gear either in conjunction with or separately from the pitch shifting.

Key Features

  • Polyphonic pitch shifting and a reproduction of the BIGSBY tremolo arm string bending and vibrato effects.
  • A spring loaded rocking foot pedal for upwards and downwards pitch bending movements.
  • High quality buffered bypass and seamless transitions into and out of bypass.
  • Multi function LED lit knobs. LED colour and intensity are indicators of the selected parameters and values.
  • AUTO mode, with an LFO controlling the pitch bend rate and the foot pedal controlling pitch bend depth.
  • Up to 12 semitone pitch shifts in both directions. The pitch bend range can be set separately for both directions.
  • Foot pedal and pitch shift direction invert switch. BLEND control for mixing in the DRY signal to achieve harmonizer or chorus sounds.
  • DETUNE control for emulating the tuning instability of hardware tremolo systems.
  • Full MIDI PC and CC control over all parameters and extended functionality. A 3.5 mm TRS to 5 pin DIN MIDI adapter is included.
  • 10 user preset slots accessible via MIDI PC.
  • Expression output for controlling other gear with the spring loaded dual direction foot pedal, with adjustable expression depth and centre position offset controls.
  • Latching mode is accessible via an external footswitch. The BIGSBY Pedal is compatible with both momentary and toggle type footswitches with a TS ¼ inch jack. A “KNOB LOCK” option to prevent accidental parameter adjustment during performances.
  • Powered by a standard 9V DC centre negative power supply with at least 500 mA. Power supply is not included.

Brand

Gamechanger Audio

In the current JustPedals catalogue, Gamechanger Audio is represented by Distortion Pedals, Reverb Pedals and Tremolo & Vibrato Pedals. Current listings include LIGHT, BIGSBY Vibrato and Plasma Distortion. That makes the range relevant to players looking for drive, gain and clipping, plus time-based effects and ambience. Check each model for its exact circuit or processing platform, controls, power requirements and connections, particularly where the catalogue includes both pedals and supporting gear.

Category

Pitch & Harmoniser Pedals

Pitch and harmoniser pedals detect the input and generate shifted or harmonised voices above or below it. They can create fixed intervals, intelligent harmony, detuning, octave effects or momentary pitch changes, but tracking depends on the source, register and playing clarity. Polyphonic processing handles chords differently from monophonic designs, and latency may be more noticeable with complex settings. Check key or scale controls, dry and wet routing, expression or MIDI options and the instrument range before choosing one for live use.

Tags

Acoustic

Acoustic products are designed or voiced for acoustic instruments, including piezo, magnetic and microphone-based sources. Input impedance, body resonance, attack, EQ, compression, ambience and feedback control can all affect the result. Check whether the product is intended for acoustic guitar, another stringed instrument or general use, and confirm the connection, power and output format before placing it into a live PA or recording chain.

Hybrid

Hybrid products combine analogue audio circuitry with digital control, conversion or processing. The useful question is which part of the signal path stays analogue and which functions—such as presets, filtering, modulation or USB—are handled digitally. This can provide hands-on response with modern recall, but latency, power and bypass behaviour vary. Check the signal path and routing rather than assuming the label describes the entire product.

MIDI

MIDI sends, receives or responds to Musical Instrument Digital Interface messages rather than carrying instrument audio itself. Program changes can recall presets, continuous controllers can move parameters and MIDI clock or transport messages can synchronise timing. Check the connector or USB method, channel and message support, clock direction, latency and whether the device needs a separate MIDI host or adapter. MIDI control is powerful, but compatibility depends on the exact messages each product understands.

Presets

Preset-capable products can store and recall effect settings, signal paths or control assignments. The useful differences are the number of locations, whether footswitches or MIDI can recall them, what parameters are saved, how quickly they change and whether trails continue between settings. Check editing, backup, firmware, expression and USB requirements, and confirm that the preset system covers the parameters you need rather than assuming every control is recalled.
