Here’s what Thorpy FX say:

HANAMI is a fuzz we feel is a natural successor sonically from where the BONEYARD left off. Rather than seeking to emulate anyone else’s circuits, HANAMI sits perfectly between the BONEYARD and the FALLOUT CLOUD. It is a fuzz that takes inspiration from the past but offers modern features and a sonic footprint that is inspirational no matter what styles of music you play. Built with 4x NOS germanium transistors and 1x NOS Germanium Diode. HANAMI is loaded with saturation offering smooth, rewarding and evolutionary fuzz tones from one easy to navigate control set.

Controls

  • Volume – Use this control to balance the output of the pedal. Unity (where the volume out matches the volume in) is roughly at the 10 o’clock position, depending on your guitars pickup output.
  • Boost – This control allows you to adjust the pedals character from smooth lower gain fuzz through to a more saturated aggressive and smile inducing fuzz.
  • Treble – This control adds or cuts Treble to the Fuzz. Fully counter clockwise removes treble and fully clockwise boosts treble. This control is very interactive with the bass control.
  • Bass – This control adds or cuts Bass to the Fuzz. Fully counter clockwise removes Bass and fully clockwise boosts Bass. This control is very interactive with the Treble control. Adjusting the Bass and Treble control allows you to tailor the tonality of the fuzz to match your guitar and amp.

High-Quality Components

To ensure consistency, reliability and tonal supremacy HANAMI is made with extremely high quality components. 1% metalfilm resistors, WIMA and Panasonic capacitors where possible and robust through hole plated PCB’S. In short, all of this means you won’t have to worry about your pedal and it should give you many years of inspiring tonal bliss.

Specifications

  • Power: HANAMI is designed to work at voltages of 9V DC. This can be from a quality centre negative power supply such as the Gigrig Generator or Voodoo Lab Pedalpower Plus 2. Do not attempt to use this pedal with other voltages or polarities.

Fuzz Pedals

Fuzz pedals produce a thick, saturated and often unruly form of distortion with a character all of its own. From smooth vintage sustain to gated, spluttering and synth-like textures, fuzz is one of the most expressive and distinctive effects in guitar history.

Players use fuzz for psychedelic rock, garage, stoner rock, doom, indie, shoegaze and experimental sounds. It can feel more like an instrument than a normal drive pedal, responding strongly to guitar volume, pickup choice and playing dynamics.

Fuzz

Fuzz pedals create thick saturated distortion with a raw and highly expressive character that differs significantly from standard overdrive or distortion pedals. Vintage-inspired fuzz circuits remain hugely influential in psychedelic rock, doom, garage, shoegaze and experimental music.

Different fuzz designs respond very differently to pickups, guitar volume and playing dynamics, allowing players to move between smooth sustain, gated textures and aggressive spluttering tones.
