Normally with an overdrive pedal you would expect just a simple volume, tone, gain control setup. While this pedal houses all the basics, its secret weapon is the expressive calibre control. This works in tandem with the gain control as a completely separate gain stage. So you can use can mix and match these different stages to really get the exact tone you have in your head.
Two Kinds Of Drive
A great way to think about the two drive controls is by using the gain as a mid boost. While the Calibre control is a mid-scooped amp style overdrive that has a lot of treble and high end to fill out your sound. By separating the gain stages like this instead of adding more EQ you get a much richer and fuller sound than you would normally find on an overdrive.
Volume Responsive
If you are the kind of player who uses the volume and tone knobs on your guitar for dynamics, you will love the Thorpy FX Gunshot. By using the two separate gain stages this pedal is able to adjust well to your guitar's output, letting you range from soft cleans to a rocking British style overdrive without changing the settings on the pedal.
