Multi-Effects Pedals

Multi-effects pedals combine several processing blocks in one unit, usually through digital signal processing. A single box may provide drives, modulation, delay, reverb, amp and cab simulation, tuning, looping, rhythm or headphone monitoring, with presets recalling complete signal chains. The useful specifications are routing flexibility, footswitch assignment, editing method, expression or MIDI control, stereo I/O, latency and current draw. More effects do not automatically mean a better result: a compact unit with clear switching and sensible gain staging can be more useful than a feature-heavy box that is awkward to operate live.
