The Origin Effects Halcyon Green Overdrive Pedal is a roaring drive stompbox with an all-new adaptive circuitry. Based on one of the most popular overdrive circuits out there this ingenious pedal takes it a step further by placing you firmly in control of your drive. Its got that mid-forward low-gain boost with a dash of clean signal that many players adore. But thanks to Origin Effects clever engineering an adaptive circuit means you can roll back the volume for a fully detailed cleaner tone and the pedal adjusts the mid-bump along with you. Essentially you can leave the Halycon on crank your settings for some flamethrower tones then lower your guitars volume or adopt a softer pick attack to enjoy some full-bodied cleans. Simplicity at its finest. That said theres a lot you can do with this pedal! A dry signal control matches with a voicing switch so you can really shape the sound to your taste. The 808 voicing is the classic mid-bump howl while the MOD setting introduces a brighter peak to the output. Complete with high-quality components and an excellent buffered bypass that will preserve the strength of your signal youve found your next performing pedal.

Origin Effects

Origin Effects was founded in 2012 by Simon Keats, whose first pedal design recreated the response of a UREI 1176 studio compressor. That design became the Cali76 and set the direction for a range that combines studio-inspired compression with analogue amp recreations and drive. JustPedals listings include the RevivalDRIVE Compact, MAGMA57, DELUXE61, DCX Bass and Halcyon Gold. Origin says every pedal is hand-built and listen-tested at its factory in Buckingham, England. Its products are designed for players who want detailed control over compressor response, amp character and familiar studio tones.

Overdrive Pedals

Overdrive uses soft or moderate clipping to add harmonics and compression while retaining more of the original note shape than heavy distortion. Some circuits emphasise the midrange and trim bass before clipping; others remain broad, transparent or amplifier-like. Gain, clipping arrangement, headroom and tone filtering decide whether it supplies a light edge, a saturated drive sound or extra push into another gain stage.

Buffered Bypass

Keeps an active buffer in the signal path when the effect is bypassed. The buffer converts a high-impedance input to a lower-impedance output, helping long cables and multiple pedals retain level and high frequencies, although its headroom and noise remain part of the path.
