The NUX NDS-2 Brownie Distortion recreates the iconic British dirt tones of the 70s and packs it into a single compact pedal. Utilising a unique hybrid of circuits allows this innovative device to create natural warm distortion that accurately replicates the breakup of a valve amplifier. Asymmetrical clipping generates additional harmonic content and lends a gritty edge to the tone. Combining an op-amp and 2 LEDs in the clipping circuit helps deliver distortion versatility to do smooth saturation as accurately as pure crunch. A clever inclusion is the low-pass tone control filter which simulates the Variac effect nicely rounding-off your tone. True bypass switching maintains your signal purity so your mammoth tones are kept entirely separate from your dry signal. This means pure character when engaged and no tonal bleed when disengaged. All housed in a robust enclosure and youre guaranteed huge tones time after time.

Distortion Pedals
Distortion clips the waveform more firmly than overdrive, generating dense upper harmonics, longer sustain and a more compressed response. Circuit topology and filtering decide whether the sound is tight and focused, broad and aggressive, smooth or deliberately abrasive. Gain sets the amount of clipping, while pre- and post-distortion tone controls strongly influence low-end definition, midrange presence and high-frequency texture.

Hybrid
Combines analogue and digital stages within one signal or control design. A digital section may provide memory, routing or modelling while analogue circuitry supplies clipping, filtering or amplification, so the order and blend of the two domains shape the final response.
True Bypass
Connects input directly to output through mechanical or relay switching when the effect is off, removing the active circuit from the audio path. It avoids buffer colour but leaves cable capacitance and switching design to influence high-frequency loss and possible switching noise.
