Description
here at Just Pedals we love this MXR Micro Flanger Pedal.
The MXR Micro Flanger takes the sounds of the MXR117 and puts it in a much smaller housing. Go from jet plane like sweeps to cool outer space type effects with the MXR Micro Flanger.
Here is what MXR say about the Micro Flanger
Based on the benchmark sounds of the MXR M117 Flanger, the MXR Micro Flanger features many of the same flanging effects of its big brother, but in a smaller and more convenient size. Originally released in the 80’s, this faithful recreation features the same two critical controls—a Speed knob to control the rate of cycling and a Regeneration knob to manage the overall intensity—and stays true to its 100% analog bucket brigade technology for the ultimate in warm and organic tone.
The Micro Flanger has been updated with a true bypass switch so you don’t lose any tone during bypass. Go from jet plane like sweeps to cool outer space type effects with the MXR Micro Flanger.

Flanger
A flanger is a type of guitar effects pedal used to create a swirling, whooshing sound by modulating the phase of an audio signal. It works by combining the original signal with a slightly delayed and modulated version of itself. As the two signals interact, they create peaks and troughs in the frequency spectrum, resulting in the characteristic “jet plane” or “swooshing” sound associated with flanging.
Key features of a flanger pedal include:
1. **Rate**: Controls the speed at which the delayed signal is modulated. Higher rates produce faster modulation, while lower rates create slower, more subtle effects.
2. **Depth**: Adjusts the intensity of the modulation effect. Higher depth settings result in more pronounced sweeps, while lower settings produce a gentler effect.
3. **Manual (or Range)**: Sets the center frequency of the modulation. This control allows you to focus the effect on specific frequency ranges, altering the tonal character of the flanging.
4. **Feedback (or Regeneration)**: Determines the amount of modulated signal that is fed back into the effect. Increasing feedback can create more pronounced peaks and troughs, resulting in a more intense effect.
Flanger pedals are commonly used in various music genres, including rock, metal, and psychedelic music, to add movement, depth, and texture to guitar tones. They can be used subtly to add a touch of modulation and dimension to a guitar sound, or more prominently to create dramatic swirling effects. Overall, flanger pedals offer guitarists a versatile tool for shaping and enhancing their tone, adding a dynamic and expressive element to their playing.

Micro
A micro pedal is a compact effects unit designed to save space on a pedalboard while still delivering high-quality sound. These pedals are typically smaller than standard stompboxes, making them ideal for musicians who need a portable or space-efficient setup without compromising on tone.
Many top brands, such as Mooer, TC Electronic, and Xotic, offer micro pedals covering everything from overdrive and delay to modulation and compression. Despite their small size, these pedals often feature true bypass, premium components, and intuitive controls, making them a favourite among gigging musicians and those looking to maximise their pedalboard real estate.
Pedal
A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.
This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.
Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.
Once you buy one, you can’t stop and then you have to sell them and buy more.
