All-Encompassing Guitar Processor

Use HX Stomp XL as a complete guitar/bass workstation, a backup for your main rig, an add-on tone expander with other modellers or even as a professional-quality audio interface. The HX Stomp XL’s ‘Command Centre’ functionality, MIDI capabilities and external expression pedal jack also make it an ideal master controller for your entire setup. There’s almost nothing it can’t do!

300+ Amp, Cabs & Effects!

HX Stomp XL comes equipped with more than 300 amps, cabs and effects — catering for even the most demanding and musically-diverse of players. The 128 factory presets include both vintage and modern sounds based on highly-coveted gear, and there are also presets created specifically for bassists.

Authentic Modelling

HX modelling digitally mirrors the circuitry of analogue amps and effects, component by component. Every model sounds and feels realistic, including notoriously hard-to-capture devices like vintage fuzzes and modulation effects. Simply put, the HX Stomp XL nails the much-desired analogue “vibe”.

Powerful SHARC DSP Chip

Featuring the same SHARC DSP chip found in Line 6’s flagship Helix products, the HX Stomp XL can run up to 8 processing ‘blocks’ simultaneously. The extra assignable footswitches let you access and control these blocks in more powerful and efficient ways, meaning that the HX Stomp XL is simply designed to be more flexible for use onstage than the original HX Stomp.

Additional Appointments

Extra intuitive features include a choice of true bypass and DSP bypass with trails, a stereo effects loop that allows you to integrate external pedals or employ 4-cable method, a jack for two external footswitches or an expression pedal, third-party IR support, and a multi-channel 24-bit/96kHz USB audio interface.

‘HX Edit’ App

The free ‘HX Edit’ app lets you easily create, save and load presets, as well as customise nearly all pedal parameters. It’s also a preset librarian, IR loader, and more! This app enables you to extract the most from HX Stomp XL.

What Else Does HX Stomp XL Do?

The Line HX Stomp XL has some other small advantages over the standard HX Stomp. Hands-free ‘Pedal Edit’ mode let you tweak presets with your feet, there are 4 snapshots per preset rather than 3, and you can access the ‘6 Switch Looper’ without needing an external MIDI controller. Other than that, it’s HX Stomp but with 5 extra switches!

Key Features

  • The power of HX Stomp — now with eight footswitches!
  • Exceptional sound quality with 123dB of dynamic range
  • Features the same SHARC DSP chip and HX Modelling as Helix processors
  • Eight capacitive-touch footswitches with colour-coded LED rings
  • More than 300 HX and legacy amps, cabs and effects — up to 8 simultaneous

  • Split/parallel signal paths for maximum routing flexibility
  • Dual expression pedal/footswitch input for greater creative control

Expression

Expression pedals allow real-time control over specific parameters on compatible guitar pedals, such as volume, delay time, modulation depth, or filter sweep. Used with an expression input, they let players shape effects dynamically with their foot, adding movement and performance control that cannot be achieved with fixed knob settings.

Fuzz

A fuzz pedal is one of the earliest and most aggressive forms of distortion, turning your clean guitar signal into a thick, saturated wall of sound. It works by clipping the waveform almost flat, creating a compressed, gritty tone full of harmonic overtones. The result is raw, unruly, and unmistakable — from the sputtering breakup of vintage germanium circuits to the searing sustain of modern silicon designs. Fuzz pedals react strongly to your guitar’s volume and pickup choice, making them dynamic tools for expressive players.

Whether you’re chasing the classic tones of Hendrix and the Smashing Pumpkins or exploring heavy, experimental textures, fuzz remains a favourite for its personality and unpredictability. It can sound smooth and sustaining, or wild and velcro-like, depending on how it’s set up. A good fuzz pedal cuts through the mix while adding thickness and attitude, turning any riff or lead line into something bold and unmistakably alive.

Looper

A looper pedal records and plays back sections of your playing, allowing you to layer sounds and build full arrangements on your own. By capturing short or long phrases, you can create rhythm parts, harmonies, or entire backing tracks in real time. Most loopers offer basic controls for record, overdub, and playback, while advanced models include multiple tracks, tempo syncing, and memory storage for saving your loops.

Loopers are invaluable for practice, songwriting, and live performance. They help you explore ideas, refine timing, and experiment with textures — from solo acoustic performances to complex ambient soundscapes. A good looper pedal becomes an instrument in itself, letting you improvise, arrange, and perform with creativity and freedom, turning one guitar into an entire band.

MIDI

MIDI pedals use the Musical Instrument Digital Interface standard to communicate with other guitar pedals, effects units, and hardware. They allow control over presets, parameters, and switching across multiple devices from a single controller. MIDI integration makes it possible to build complex, synchronised pedal setups while keeping control simple and consistent.

New

This is brand new, fresh in, and a UK warranty is included. New Gear always comes from trusted UK music retailers.

Pitch

Pitch pedals alter the frequency of your guitar signal, changing the perceived note or adding harmony. They can shift notes up or down by fixed intervals, create harmonies, or produce dive-bomb and whammy-style effects without a tremolo arm. Pitch shifters and harmonisers are great for thickening solos, simulating multiple guitars, or experimenting with creative, otherworldly sounds that expand your tonal range.

Rotary

Rotary pedals recreate the swirling, moving sound of a rotating speaker cabinet, adding rich modulation and a sense of motion to guitar tones. They typically simulate the changing pitch and volume caused by spinning speakers, producing anything from subtle shimmer to deep, pulsating swirl. Rotary effects are often used for clean and lightly driven sounds to add depth, movement, and a classic, organ-inspired character.
