Allow JustPedals to introduce the Heritage Britstrip – British-spec Channel Strip with Diode Bridge compressor

The Heritage Audio BritStrip draws together five decades of analogue excellence into just one rack space. This mono channel strip unites a genuine 73-style microphone preamplifier, an extended 73-style equaliser, a discrete Class A DI, and the renowned diode-bridge compressor from the Successor. It delivers the unmistakable character of classic British recordings, yet with modern routing flexibility and added all-in-one convenience. Designed for professional engineers, the BritStrip offers rich warmth, punch and tonal control, all with craftsmanship born in Heritage Audio’s St Ives factory.

Key Features:

  • All-discrete Class A preamp and DI:
Features transformer-coupled inputs and outputs with 80 dB of gain, pad, phase reversal, impedance switching, and pass-through DI routing.
  • Expanded 73-style equaliser:
Inductor-based mid, shelving and high-pass sections deliver musical boosts without phase issues or headroom loss at extreme settings.
  • Diode-bridge compressor with blend and sidechain:
Offers tracking-friendly compression with blend control, side-chain filtering, external side-chain and stereo linking capabilities.

Analogue Heritage with Modern Routing:

The BritStrip permits flexible signal flow by allowing you to insert the EQ before or after the compressor. EQ-before-compression sharpens response to boosted frequencies, while EQ-after-compression keeps the side-chain less sensitive to EQ adjustments. This flexibility gives engineers creative control over tone and dynamics.

Studio-grade Sound and Performance:

Its Carnhill-designed input and output transformers, all-discrete Class A three-gain-stage preamp and custom-wound coils ensure a rich, authentic ‘73 sound. With noise under –125 dBu EIN, THD less than 0.025 %, and frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the BritStrip delivers pristine, character-filled performance.

Compact and Rugged Design:

All the components, preamplifier, equaliser, compressor and DI, are packed into a single 1-U rack unit (482 × 44 × 184 mm). It’s a streamlined, robust solution for modern studios seeking vintage tone without compromising space or versatility.

Specifications:

  • Transformer-coupled balanced mic, line and DI inputs and outputs
  • Mic input impedance: 1 200 Ω / 300 Ω; Line: 10 kΩ; DI: > 2 MΩ
  • Maximum output: > +26 dBu into 600 Ω
  • Gain: > 80 dB; Pad: 20 dB; Phase reverse; Impedance switch
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz (+0.3 dB) to 20 kHz (–0.2 dB)
  • THD: < 0.025 % at 1 kHz; < 0.05 % at 100 Hz; EIN: < -125 dBu
  • Equaliser: 73-style high & low shelving with bell-mode; mid-band inductor-based; high-pass (low-pass) filter

Compressor

A compressor pedal evens out your dynamics, smoothing peaks and lifting quieter notes so everything feels tighter and more controlled. It adds sustain, clarity, and balance — making clean chords ring longer, country licks snap with precision, and funk rhythms pop with consistency. Subtle or pronounced, compression shapes the feel of your playing as much as the sound.

Use it at the front of your chain to tighten your core tone, add sustain to leads, or keep complex passages sitting neatly in the mix. From gentle polish to unmistakable squash, a compressor is one of those foundational tools that quietly makes everything sound more professional and dialled in.
