The Greer Amps Black Mountain Crunch Drive hearkens back to the metal panel, EL34-powered British tube monsters — looming large and bringing new dimensions of vintage tone to guitarists (and bass players, too!). With plenty of gain and output on hand for any situation and a flexible tone control that lets you push the mids well into crunch zone, the Black Mountain packs a formidable punch.

British, and Beyond!

Greer's Black Mountain is rooted in a tonal quest for the sound of one particular recording of a saturated UK amp, but it has flexibility beyond just that sound. From simply adding crunch, to getting that famous mid-range snarl and growl of those metal panel amps that came out just after the "Plexi" era, the Black Mountain Crunch Drive gives up the goods in a way that has a natural, amp-like crunch to it.

According to Greer Amps, this circuit was inspired by many conversations and developed with The Darkness' album Permission to Land blasting in the background. They say it'll get you there, if you want it to! The two clipping diodes responsible for the drive are purposefully imbalanced, selected to impart the proper texture and crunch for the circuit.

9-18V Operation

In addition, the Greer Amps Black Mountain is excellent on bass and can be powered by 9-18V DC for expanded headroom and sonic possibilities, and requires a standard negative centre 2.1mm power supply.

Specialist Effects Pedals

Specialist effects alter the signal in ways that do not sit cleanly inside one established family. They may use granular processing, frequency shifting, resonators, freeze or sustain, bit reduction, ring modulation, feedback networks or combinations of several techniques. The relevant distinction is the underlying process, its tracking or latency, and how completely the dry signal can be blended or replaced.

Bass

Voiced or equipped to retain low-frequency fundamentals and the higher headroom of a bass signal. Clean blends, crossovers and bass-specific filter ranges can preserve weight and articulation while the effected portion adds harmonics, movement or ambience.
