Description

here at Just Pedals we love this Friedman BE-OD Deluxe Overdrive Pedal.

The original BE-OD pedal was a hit from the offset, but the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe takes that design up by a significant notch. Now boasting dual channels and mid-range controls, you have far more tonal freedom and flexibility.

The BE-OD could already turn practically any amp into a fire-breathing monster, but now you can dial-in a milder, low-gain mode to that setup as well.

Dual Channels

Like the standard BE-OD pedal, the BE-OD Deluxe derives heavily from Friedman's flagship amplifier – the BE-100. This means that you can expect that authentic valve amp response and feel. With channel 1 employing the exact same circuit as the BE-OD, this mode offers hair-raising levels of gain, perfect for hard rockers or metalheads looking for that modded black and gold tone.

Channel 2 has the same character and response as channel 1, but this mode has been voiced with slightly less gain. This means that you can perfectly setup rhythm and lead channels, with the BE-OD Deluxe serving as the source for all of your drive and distortion needs.

Flexible Controls

Dave Friedman's original BE-OD is loved for its crushing tones, however its lack of a mid control was something that some players disliked. Friedman has listened to its fans and addressed this demand, adding mid-range controls for channels 1 and 2. This means that you have a full 3-band EQ section for both channels, letting you tweak your tones to absolute perfection.

It doesn't end there either though, as each channel also boasts a presence switch that can add further top-end crispness if you're playing through a dark-sounding amp. While the gain and volume controls are self-explanatory, the channels also feature 3-way tight switches. These act like a bass roll-off, letting you take out any flubbiness from your drive tones so that they sound more focused and 'tight'.

Overdrive

Overdrive is a popular guitar effect that creates a warm, distorted sound by amplifying the signal of an electric guitar, typically using a pedal or an amp’s built-in circuit. The effect simulates the natural distortion that occurs when a tube amplifier is pushed to its limit, creating a rich, harmonic response that adds sustain, warmth, and character to the tone. Overdrive pedals are commonly used to add grit and growl to a clean tone without the harshness of full distortion.

The overdrive effect works by boosting the input signal, causing the amplifier to break up and clip the waveform, resulting in a smooth, musical distortion. This is often more subtle and less aggressive than other forms of distortion, making overdrive pedals ideal for blues, classic rock, and country players who seek a dynamic sound that responds to their playing touch. Overdrive pedals can be used in conjunction with other effects like delay and reverb to shape a more complex, evolving sound. Popular overdrive pedals include the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the Fulltone OCD, and the Boss OD-3, each offering different tonal characteristics, from smooth and bluesy to punchy and aggressive.

Pedal

A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.

This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.

Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.

Once you buy one, you can’t stop and then you have to sell them and buy more.
