Mike Matthews and Bob Myer — two names that shaped the fuzz world as we know it. Back in the day, these guys cooked up the original Big Muff and their partnership kept EHX at the cutting edge for decades. Bob was always tinkering, always pushing boundaries, handing Mike fresh designs to keep up with the times. Some ideas made history… others got tucked away and forgotten.

One of those forgotten gems? A wild dual op-amp Big Muff design from the late ’70s. It never saw the light of day. Until now. While digging through Bob’s old workshop, fuzz fanatics Josh Scott (JHS Pedals) and Daniel Danger stumbled across the original hand-drawn schematic. Josh decoded it, brought it back to life and boom — the Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2 was born!

A sequel worth waiting for…

The Big Muff Pi 2 takes everything you love about the classic Big Muff and adds its own twist. It’s got that legendary sustain and mountains of gain, but with a fuzz character that’s a little more raw and dynamic. Expect crispy highs, thunderous lows and clipping that feels gloriously unpolished. It’s unmistakably Big Muff, but with extra attitude.

Big tone, nano size

You’ll feel right at home with the classic Volume, Tone and Sustain controls. Sustain dials in everything from gritty, grainy fuzz to full-on chaos. Tone sweeps from raspy bite to deep rumble, while Volume sets your level. All packed into a rugged, nano-sized chassis featuring cool artwork by Daniel Danger.

Fresh, modern features

The Big Muff Pi 2 introduces silent true bypass footswitching with latching/momentary action. Click the footswitch for normal latching functionality or press and hold for a quick blast of fuzz fury. It’s a Big Muff first — and it’s seriously fun.

2. Big. Dual. Fuzz — A fuzz pedal is one of the earliest and most aggressive forms of distortion, turning your clean guitar signal into a thick, saturated wall of sound. It works by clipping the waveform almost flat, creating a compressed, gritty tone full of harmonic overtones. The result is raw, unruly, and unmistakable — from the sputtering breakup of vintage germanium circuits to the searing sustain of modern silicon designs. Fuzz pedals react strongly to your guitar’s volume and pickup choice, making them dynamic tools for expressive players. Whether you’re chasing the classic tones of Hendrix and the Smashing Pumpkins or exploring heavy, experimental textures, fuzz remains a favourite for its personality and unpredictability. It can sound smooth and sustaining, or wild and velcro-like, depending on how it’s set up. A good fuzz pedal cuts through the mix while adding thickness and attitude, turning any riff or lead line into something bold and unmistakably alive.. Guitar Pedals. Harmonix. Muff — Muff refers to the legendary fuzz sound made famous by the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff pedal. Known for its thick, saturated distortion and long, creamy sustain, the Muff delivers a powerful wall of sound that’s perfect for grunge, stoner rock, and soaring lead tones. Its unique tone circuit scoops the mids and boosts lows and highs, giving it that unmistakable, larger-than-life character that has defined countless classic recordings.. Nano. New. Op-Amp. Pi.
