Here’s what Caroline Guitar Company say about the Caroline Guitar Company Wave Cannon Zero Drive and Oscillation Pedal:

WAVE CANNON “Zero” is both a throwback to one of our very first unreleased prototypes of a pedal and the culmination of over a decade of messing with these circuits. It can be wild, it can be mild, it can tear your head off, it can be warm like your granny’s gravy, or as nasty as you want to be.

We’ve considered ourselves lucky to get to make these effects for you over the years. There’s a real joy to plugging into this thing, turning things up, getting a good amp to get gnarly, and feeling like you and your instrument have gained a superpower…and then hitting Havoc or starving the voltage and wondering if you really know what you’re doing with that superpower! That joy is why we do this, and why we wanted to make and share this thing with you.

WARNING! Let us be candid with you: if you just leave VOLTS all the way up, ignore the HAVOC control, and just use the GAIN, SHAPE, TONE, and VOLUME controls, you’ll be just fine. There’s nothing to be scared of, everything’s all OK here, and you’ll have plenty of really useful, beautiful, and fun overdrive & distortion sounds that stack well with other pedals and make your amp pay attention. You’re not going to do that.

HAVOC can be momentary (holding the footswitch down) or latched (hit it and leave it on). GAIN sets the drive level, VOLTS can starve the circuit (like a dying battery), TONE is the highs in the circuit, SHAPE sets the gain level and emphasis. VOLUME is self explanatory. The ORDER toggle allows you to set the HAVOC for whether the pedal is first in your chain or later in your signal path. HAVOC works its own control and the others as well. Some settings go crazy, others not so much. May your own experiments prove rewarding.

Specialist Effects Pedals

Specialist effects alter the signal in ways that do not sit cleanly inside one established family. They may use granular processing, frequency shifting, resonators, freeze or sustain, bit reduction, ring modulation, feedback networks or combinations of several techniques. The relevant distinction is the underlying process, its tracking or latency, and how completely the dry signal can be blended or replaced.
