The BOSS BC-1X Bass Compressor Pedal is currently retailing at £185 and it is in stock. Available to be delivered to you by post direct (some charge may apply). The team at Just Pedals think that Boss nailed it with the BOSS BC-1X Bass Compressor Pedal.

In 2015 Boss released the BB-1X a very powerful and versatile bass overdrive pedal. Now Boss are using the same MDP technology to offer the second most essential bass pedal…the compressor. The BC-1X is made to be simple on the outside but complex underneath the hood. This makes getting complex studio grade compression a piece of cake.

Studio Grade Compression

Compression on bass is not like on guitar. When working with a guitar signal compression is a nice addition to have depending on the tone. On bass a decent compressor is pretty much a must have as you will be constantly fighting with the rest of the band for frequency space. EQ does help here but nothing sets up you up for great tone like a good compressor.

That is where the BC-1X comes in handy with its simple to understand controls that you would have seen in any studio. Ratio, Threshold, Release and Level controls can be found on the top of the pedal and are all you need to create nearly any compression style you need.

Clear Tone

Since it is such an essential pedal there are all kinds of options available. The thing to watch out for though with compressors is colouring and tone sucking. Because of how compression works it is very hard to find one that keeps your tone your tone and just compresses the frequencies you want. That control is what makes the BC-1X so good.

Here's What BOSS Say About the BC-1X

Intelligent Multiband Compression For Dynamic Players

Equipped with cutting-edge BOSS technology, the BC-1X Bass Comp performs far beyond the capabilities of conventional bass compressor pedals. This premium stompbox features pro-level multiband compression controlled by intelligent circuitry, making it simple to dial in natural sounds for any playing style. The advanced design responds to different dynamics and registers to apply the perfect amount of compression in real time, ensuring that your tone never gets over-squeezed or muddy. Transparent, powerful, and easy to use, the BC-1X is a must-have tool that delivers studio-quality punch and precision for dynamic players.

Advanced Technology for Natural Sound

Compression is an indispensible tool for the modern bassist. While there are many bass compressor pedals available, the BC-1X stands alone as a completely unique product. Unlike conventional units that compress the fundamental tone and muffle the sound, the advanced BOSS MDP tech in the BC-1X provides perfectly natural compression that never overwhelms the character of your instrument. Every nuance is captured and processed accurately, even with aggressive compressor settings. In every register your sound is true, allowing you to put your heart into playing without fussing with different settings for every song or style.

Infinite Tonal Possibilities with Simple Controls

While normal compressors can be difficult to dial in just right, the BC-1X takes all the

BOSS is one of the most iconic and influential effects pedal brands, renowned for its durable, compact stompboxes and industry-leading innovation. A division of Roland Corporation, BOSS has been shaping the sound of musicians since the late 1970s, offering everything from legendary overdrives like the SD-1 and DS-1 to cutting-edge digital effects like the DD-500 and RV-6. Known for their reliability, versatility, and signature buffered bypass, BOSS pedals are a staple on pedalboards worldwide, trusted by beginners and professionals alike.

Bass

In the realm of guitar effects, “bass” pedals are designed specifically for bass guitars, enhancing their low-end frequencies and allowing bassists to shape their tone and explore new sonic possibilities. These pedals cater to the unique characteristics of the bass guitar and provide various effects to modify its sound. For instance, overdrive and distortion pedals add gain and saturation, giving the bass a gritty or distorted tone. Compression pedals help even out dynamics by smoothing out the volume of loud and soft notes, resulting in a consistent and punchy sound. EQ pedals enable bassists to sculpt their tone by boosting or cutting specific frequencies, allowing them to emphasize certain parts of the sound or compensate for room acoustics.

Other popular bass effects include envelope filters, which produce dynamic filter sweeps in response to playing dynamics, adding rhythmic groove to bass lines. Octave pedals generate harmonies one or two octaves below the original note, creating a fuller and more powerful sound. Modulation effects like chorus, flanger, and phaser add depth and movement by modulating the pitch or phase, creating swirling textures and enhancing the overall presence of the bass line. Lastly, delay and reverb pedals introduce ambience and spatial depth, adding echoes and reflections that enhance the sense of space in music. These diverse effects allow bassists to expand their sonic palette and express their creativity in numerous ways.

Compressor

A compressor is an essential tool in shaping your sound, particularly for controlling the dynamic range of your instrument. It works by reducing the volume of louder sounds while boosting quieter ones, resulting in a more balanced and consistent tone. This effect can add sustain to notes and smooth out any harsh volume spikes, making the overall sound more polished and professional.

When used on guitar or bass, a compressor can tighten up your performance and help your instrument sit better in a mix. Controls on a typical compressor pedal include Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release, which allow for precise control over how much compression is applied and how it reacts. Popular compressors include the MXR Dyna Comp, Keeley Katana Blues Driver, and Electro-Harmonix Soul Preacher.

Pedal

A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.

This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.

Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.

Once you buy one, you can’t stop and then you have to sell them and buy more.
