Category

Pedal Switchers

Pedal switchers route effects in and out of the audio path, often through programmable loops. They can reduce tap dancing, keep unused pedals bypassed and provide preset control through MIDI, footswitches or a companion app. The practical details are loop count, series versus parallel routing, switching method, buffer placement, spillover, expression inputs and compatibility with pedals that dislike a buffer or expect a direct instrument signal. A switcher does not improve every board by default: it earns its space when repeatable routing, gain-stage changes or quieter live operation justify the extra connections and setup.

Tags

Digital

Uses digital conversion and processing to create, store or control the effect. This can provide presets, complex routing and repeatable algorithms, but latency, conversion and power requirements depend on the design.

MIDI

Sends, receives or responds to Musical Instrument Digital Interface messages rather than carrying the instrument audio itself. Program changes recall presets, continuous controllers move parameters, and MIDI clock or transport messages synchronise timing between devices.

USB

Provides a Universal Serial Bus connection for power, audio, MIDI, firmware or editing data. The supported USB class and connector do not by themselves show its purpose; channel count, sample format, host compatibility and power demand define the actual function.
