DIY identifies a product or project intended for building, modifying or assembling rather than simply plugging in. It may mean a pedal kit, enclosure, circuit board or component set. Check what is included, whether soldering and drilling are required, the expected voltage and the quality of the build documentation. DIY work can teach how gain, clipping, filtering and bypass operate, but the finished result depends on assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
