This pedal is based on Benson’s now famous amp-in-a-box Preamp Pedal! There only one small tweak made – The replacement of the first FET transistor with a germanium gain stage! The result is a slightly lower gain, but richer sounding and feeling of that inspiring overdrive/boost/fuzz you have always dreamed about!

Key Features

  • Cut through the Mix – With the distortion also containing boost, you can be sure your riffs will be heard, and deservingly so!
  • Simple Interface – Dial in the exact tone needed with the simple-to-use interface so you have more time to show off your incredible Distortion.
  • Top Jacks – With the Jack Inputs on the top of the pedal, you will have more space on your pedalboard.
  • Road-Worthy Chassis – With the outer shell being made from a rugged aluminium, this pedal is built to survive even the longest worldwide tours.

Benson have literally taken their Germanium Gain Stage from their own servo-biased Germanium Boost pedal, and fused it with Benson quality controls. The result is an alternate universe! Marvel at the combination of the incomparable feel of germanium with the careful equalization and tone controls of the preamp pedal.

Preamp & Amp Sim Pedals,

Amp and cab simulator pedals recreate the sound and response of guitar amplifiers, speaker cabinets and microphones in a compact pedal format. They are useful for recording direct, practising silently, running straight into a PA, or building a pedalboard that does not rely on a traditional amp.

Many amp and cab sims include different amplifier voices, impulse responses, EQ controls and headphone outputs. They are a strong choice for modern guitarists who need consistent tone at home, in the studio and on stage without carrying heavy amplifiers and speaker cabinets.

Preamp

Preamp pedals and related effects are commonly used by guitarists looking to shape their tone in a more focused and creative way. Different designs offer their own response, feel and tonal character depending on the style of music and the type of amplifier or guitar being used.

Many players build pedalboards gradually over time, combining different effects and utilities to create a setup that suits their own sound and workflow. Preamp related gear can play an important role in both live performance and studio recording.
