Description

Electronic Audio Experiments' Limelight V2 is a versatile dual-channel overdrive pedal, developed in collaboration with LA-based punk band Touche Amore. The band's guitarists Nick Steinhardt and Clayton Stevens are known for their distinctively bright and clear tones — forming the foundation of TA’s impassioned brand of post-hardcore. Their riffs morph effortlessly between serene clean passages and cacophonous blast beats, and this pedal is designed to cover that wide contrast of tones and everything in between!

In preparation for the recording of Touche Amore's LP 'Lament', Electronic Audio Experiments worked with Nick and Clayton to create a new op amp overdrive with equal parts aggression and chime. While loosely based in the "breaker" lineage, EAE made significant changes to the circuit for superior articulation and a much wider range of gain.

An independent front-end boost rounds out the package, perfect for adding power to clean tones or pushing the overdrive side into heavy distortion. While the primary goal was to help the band sound like their best selves, Limelight has a tone for everyone!

Controls

  • Boost: Adjusts the Boost channel from 0dB to +21dB of clean gain when turned clockwise.
  • Drive: Simultaneous control of two gain stages, with a natural mid-range boost as you turn it clockwise. Achieves approximately 50dB at the maximum setting.
  • Tone: Adjustable the low-pass filter. Clockwise for more treble, and counter-clockwise for less.
  • Volume: Output level control. Turn clockwise for more volume.
  • Focus: Variable low cut in the drive section. Adjusts the amount of chime and mid-range presence.
  • Left Footswitch: Engages drive circuit.
  • Right Footswitch: Engages boost circuit.

Boost

A boost pedal does one simple thing brilliantly — it makes your signal louder, stronger, and more alive. Whether you’re pushing a valve amp into natural breakup, lifting a solo above the band, or adding a touch more presence to your core tone, a clean boost gives you extra headroom without changing your character.

Use it at the front of your chain to drive other pedals harder, or after your gain stages to raise volume without adding distortion. Subtle or powerful, transparent or slightly coloured, a boost is one of the most useful tools on any pedalboard — small box, big difference.

Overdrive

Like a golden layer of melted cheese — warm, gooey, and just put it all over. It adds just the right amount of richness and grit, turning a clean signal into something smooth and savoury. Designed to mimic the natural breakup of a tube amp pushed to its sweet spot, overdrive delivers the flavour of classic rock and blues in every bite. From creamy mid-gain warmth to crisp edge-of-breakup sparkle, it’s the comfort food of guitar tone — simple, satisfying, and endlessly versatile. Whether it’s a mild crunch or a full-bodied roar, overdrive is where good taste begins.
