JHS Pedals are renowned for tonal excellence. Their premium stompboxes are packed full of gizmos galore and options aplenty – but they’ve taken a very different approach with the 3 Series Delay. These affordable effects have been stripped back for pure, unadulterated JHS tone suited to both beginners and pros alike.

Raw JHS Pedals tone

Gone are the array of dials found throughout the standard JHS pedal line-up. What you’re getting here is a refined, quality sound thanks to high-end electronic components and meticulous attention to detail from the Kansas City company. This is the ultimate plug-and-play pedal.

Sound

Delay is the perfect antidote for a dry tone. The 3 Series Delay brings you both rich and clear echoes in an extremely straightforward design. Controls are simple: mix blends the wet pedal and dry guitar signal to give you either a light sprinkling of effect or a slushier ambient sound. The time dial sets the the space in between each delay from 80ms to 800ms, and the repeats control adds the number of times the original signal is played after input.

Unique to the 3 Series is a delay type toggle, letting you switch over from a pristine digital style sound to a darker analogue voicing.

Delay Pedals

Delay records the incoming signal for a chosen interval and repeats it after the original note. Feedback returns repeats to the delay line, while tone, filtering, modulation and saturation determine whether echoes remain clear, darken progressively, wobble like tape or degrade like analogue bucket-brigade circuits. Delay time and rhythmic subdivisions govern the spacing and musical pattern of the repeats.

Tags

Analogue

The signal is shaped by continuously varying electronic circuitry rather than being converted into a digital effect algorithm. Component choice, operating voltage and circuit tolerances influence headroom, noise, clipping texture and the small variations in response between designs.

Digital

Converts the signal or control process into numerical data for algorithmic processing. Digital designs can provide precise timing, long memory, complex routing and repeatable presets; sample rate, conversion, internal resolution and latency influence fidelity and response.
