Tech 21 make great Guitar Pedals, so If you like compressor and volume, then a Tech 21 SansAmp Richie Kotzen Fly Rig 5 V2 – Nearly New is the perfect delay to order in.2014 saw the first incarnation of Richies FlyRig. 2019 shows some significant changes much like Richies playing style. Featuring his signature OMG pedal and a specialized signal path featuring tap tempo delay and an all analogue warm FET based vintage compressor. The Sansamp section is voiced a little cleaner which paves the way for any combination of the three distinct gain stages – from a tube-like clean to a fuzzed out miasma. The warm vintage voiced tape delay section not only has a roto feature but a tap tempo button switch at your feet – giving you precise control. The drift feature has two effective uses. First of all you can add a sense of randomness to how the delay modulates and secondly with the roto section engaged you affect the distance of the virtual mic – giving you heavy volume and tonal modulation when maxed.

Tech 21

Tech 21 is a well-respected company in the music industry, particularly known for its innovative guitar effects and amplification products. Founded in 1989 by musician and engineer Andrew Barta, Tech 21 gained prominence with its groundbreaking product, the SansAmp.

This analogue amp emulator was revolutionary because it allowed guitarists to achieve tube amplifier-like tones without using actual tube amplifiers. The SansAmp became a staple in studios and live performances, appreciated for its ability to provide versatile tones, from clean to high-gain, all in a portable, pedal-friendly format.

Over the years, Tech 21 has expanded its product line to include various other effects pedals, rack units, and amplifiers, maintaining a strong reputation for high-quality, analog-based products.

One of the key aspects of Tech 21’s success is its commitment to analogue technology, which many musicians prefer for its warmth and responsiveness. The company’s product line includes popular pedals such as the Fly Rig series, which combines multiple effects into a compact, travel-friendly unit, and the Bass Driver DI, a favourite among bassists for its ability to enhance tone and provide DI capabilities for live and studio applications.

Tech 21’s dedication to innovation and quality has made it a favourite among professional musicians across different genres, including notable artists like Geddy Lee of Rush, who has collaborated with the company to create signature models. With a focus on both practicality and exceptional sound quality, Tech 21 continues to be a leader in the world of guitar effects and amplification.

Compressor

Compressor pedals smooth out playing dynamics by reducing loud peaks and lifting quieter notes, helping create a more balanced and controlled guitar sound. Compression can add sustain, tighten rhythm playing and make clean tones feel more polished.

They are widely used in country, funk, pop and studio recording environments where consistency and articulation are important. Subtle compression can also improve the feel of an entire pedalboard.

Delay

Delay pedals repeat the guitar signal to create echoes, rhythmic patterns and spacious textures ranging from short slapback repeats through to huge ambient soundscapes. Different delay styles such as analogue, digital and tape-inspired circuits all produce their own character and response.

Delay is one of the most creative effects available because it can add depth, groove and atmosphere without overwhelming the original guitar tone. It is widely used across rock, blues, indie, ambient, progressive and experimental music.

Guitar Multi Effects

Guitar Multi Effects pedals and related effects are commonly used by guitarists looking to shape their tone in a more focused and creative way. Different designs offer their own response, feel and tonal character depending on the style of music and the type of amplifier or guitar being used.

Many players build pedalboards gradually over time, combining different effects and utilities to create a setup that suits their own sound and workflow. Guitar Multi Effects related gear can play an important role in both live performance and studio recording.
