Japanese guitar pedal giant BOSS are constantly refining their effects formulas to meet the demands of modern players. The OC-5 is their latest octave stompbox creation, merging classic pitch-shifting tones with enhanced tracking technologies to set a new standard in octave pedal performance.

Key appointments include vintage/polyphonic modes, providing legendary OC-2 sounds and chord-friendly effects, along with the addition of an octave-up feature for a total span of 3 octaves. Let your creativity flow with the BOSS OC-5 – one of the most versatile compact octave pedals on the market!

Lightning-Fast Tracking

A newly-designed tracking engine gives the BOSS OC-5 incredible processing performance, ensuring zero latency, sublime accuracy and phenomenal expression. It also offers a wider range and improved polyphonic capabilities than previous OC models, covering all of your octave needs.

Vintage OC-2 Sounds

Released in 1982, the BOSS OC-2 was the world's first modern octave pedal for guitar and bass. Adored for its warm yet articulate tone, the OC-2 has been used on countless records by some of the best in the business. With the BOSS OC-5, you can recapture the OC-2's iconic mono voice via the 'Vintage' mode – enhanced with the new tracking engine for a super-fast response.

Improved Polyphonic Performance

BOSS' OC-5 also boasts an updated version of the smart 'Poly' mode that first featured on the OC-3 Super Octave pedal. This allows you to play full chords with breathtaking octave effects!

The variable 'Range' control is a clever appointment, as it restricts the effect to just the lower notes on your instrument – ideal for playing octave-affected bass lines with normal chords and melodies in the higher register. With the new tracking refinements, you can even isolate the octave effect to just the bottom note in a chord – simply turn the 'Range' knob to the "lowest" setting.

Octave Up!

Another noteworthy update for the OC-5 is the new octave-up feature, which can be engaged for both the 'Vintage' and 'Poly' modes. Bring in this sweet effect by turning the dedicated '+1 OCT' knob. You can even use the octave-up sound on its own, which is perfect for achieving 12-string-esque sounds. Alternatively, you could blend this with the '-1 OCT' and '-2 OCT' sub-octave effects for fat organ-like tones!

Guitar/Bass Switch & Direct Out

A switch at the back of the OC-5's enclosure allows you to optimise its tracking performance for either guitar or bass. And a 'Direct Out' jack also makes it easy to route dry and effect signals to different sound sources, such as two amplifiers or discrete channels on a mixer/audio interface!

Very Popular!. Octave — An octave pedal shifts your guitar signal up or down by one or more octaves, blending the altered pitch with your original sound to create a fuller, more complex tone. It can add a deep, bass-like layer underneath your playing or a shimmering high octave on top for lead lines and solos. Classic analogue octave pedals often produce slightly gritty, organic sounds, while modern digital versions track more precisely and can offer multiple octave ranges.
