Pedal Distortion Craft Waza Zone Metal MT-2W Guitar Effect Pedal.

The Boss MT-2W Waza Craft distortion pedal is a re-imagining of the famous Metal Zone stompbox first released in 1991. Featuring an all-new voicing, superior circuitry and Boss' renowned build quality, the MT-2W returns in dramatic fashion under the new Waza Craft name.

Most of you would have owned a Metal Zone at some point over the last two decades. Love it or hate it, the MT-2 defined the scooped mids and processed high-gain tones featured prominently on heavy records throughout the '90s.

Sound

The MT-2W reflects the progressive changes in the 21st Century metal scene. Guitarists are now after tighter lows, punchier mids, dynamic gain and articulate highs, which is exactly what the MT-2W provides.

Guitar signals pass through two switchable gain circuits in the MT-2W. The first has been overhauled to widen its range. By updating the first circuit with discrete components, Waza Craft have increased the expression and tone density.

Flick the switch to Custom mode and it cuts muddy low-end and boosts the gain’s vibrancy. Turn down the volume on the guitar to hear a clearer crunch sound; this is the real party trick of the MT-2W.

Unique Tone Shaping

Whatever you think of the original Metal Zone, you can’t deny its flexible EQ section. The Waza model carries over the same controls, but thanks to the redesign, is even more sensitive than before.

Down-tuned guitars will benefit from a faster attack and cut thanks to the MT-2W. Boss recommend you dial in the mids knob from 12 o’clock and decide whether you want to boost or cut the mid frequencies.

Waza Craft

In Japanese, ‘Waza’ means art or technique. That’s exactly why Boss assigned their best designers and engineers to the Waza Craft project. Their goal is to reach the pinnacle of guitar amp and effect design.

Premium Waza Craft pedals contain carefully picked transistor and capacitor components. These circuits produce exceptional analogue, transparent effects.

Just Pedal Ingredients.

Distortion — Distortion pedals take your clean guitar signal and transform it into something bigger, bolder, and full of attitude. By clipping the waveform, they add sustain, bite, and aggression, creating that thick, compressed tone that’s powered rock music for decades. From the growling crunch of classic hard rock to the tight, saturated roar of modern metal, distortion is all about energy and presence. It gives every note weight and authority, pushing your amp to its limits and beyond. There are countless flavours of distortion, each with its own texture and edge. Some sound smooth and creamy, others raw and gnarly like tearing fabric. It’s the sonic equivalent of turning up the heat until the sound cooks — rich, sizzling, and perfectly seasoned to taste. Whether used for rhythm muscle or soaring leads, a good distortion pedal doesn’t just add volume; it adds personality, grit, and that unmistakable sense of power under your fingers.. Metal. Pedal — Your pedal is like a signature dish for your sound — a flavour-packed creation that transforms the bland ingredients of your guitar into something unforgettable. Each one adds its own seasoning, texture, and heat, turning a simple meal into a feast of tone. These tasty little boxes sit in a row, like plates on a buffet, letting you mix and match flavours as you play. With one tap of your foot, you can swap sweet for spicy, subtle for smoky, and serve up something completely new. From the comfort food of warm overdrive to the fiery kick of fuzz, from smooth jazz sauce to heavy-metal spice, pedals give players a full menu of options to express their taste.  And just like with food — once you’ve tried one dish, you’ll want to sample them all. Collecting, trading, and discovering new flavours soon becomes part of the joy of being a tone-loving gourmet geek with a guitar.. Waza — Waza Craft pedals are like the signature dishes crafted by a master chef — precision, tradition, and taste in perfect balance. Designed in Japan by BOSS, each Waza model takes a classic recipe from their legendary menu — like the Blues Driver or the Metal Zone — and refines it with premium ingredients and hand-selected components. The result is a richer, more dynamic tone that captures the essence of the original but with an artisan’s touch. Think of it as fine dining for your pedalboard: familiar flavours elevated by craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pure sonic quality. Once you’ve tried a Waza, the standard menu never tastes quite the same again.. Zone.
