The Tech 21 SansAmp Para Driver DI 20th Anniversary Limited Edition is a special release celebrating two decades of one of the most versatile analogue preamp pedals ever created. Limited to just 500 units worldwide this commemorative version features a striking anodised precision-machined aluminium billet housing alongside durable all-metal knobs. Its fully analogue SansAmp circuitry adds warmth clarity and natural tube-like character while eliminating the harshness often associated with piezo pickups. Version 2 expands the legendary formula with the addition of a Rumble Filter and Air control. The Rumble Filter removes unwanted low-frequency boom and handling noise while the Air switch introduces extra sparkle and top-end clarity for acoustic instruments. Active EQ controls and a sweepable semi-parametric midrange provide extensive tone-shaping flexibility. Complete with built-in speaker and cabinet simulation balanced XLR output and phantom power compatibility the Para Driver DI is an incredibly flexible performance and recording tool for serious musicians.

Tech 21

Tech 21 is a well-respected company in the music industry, particularly known for its innovative guitar effects and amplification products. Founded in 1989 by musician and engineer Andrew Barta, Tech 21 gained prominence with its groundbreaking product, the SansAmp.

This analogue amp emulator was revolutionary because it allowed guitarists to achieve tube amplifier-like tones without using actual tube amplifiers. The SansAmp became a staple in studios and live performances, appreciated for its ability to provide versatile tones, from clean to high-gain, all in a portable, pedal-friendly format.

Over the years, Tech 21 has expanded its product line to include various other effects pedals, rack units, and amplifiers, maintaining a strong reputation for high-quality, analog-based products.

One of the key aspects of Tech 21’s success is its commitment to analogue technology, which many musicians prefer for its warmth and responsiveness. The company’s product line includes popular pedals such as the Fly Rig series, which combines multiple effects into a compact, travel-friendly unit, and the Bass Driver DI, a favourite among bassists for its ability to enhance tone and provide DI capabilities for live and studio applications.

Tech 21’s dedication to innovation and quality has made it a favourite among professional musicians across different genres, including notable artists like Geddy Lee of Rush, who has collaborated with the company to create signature models. With a focus on both practicality and exceptional sound quality, Tech 21 continues to be a leader in the world of guitar effects and amplification.

Preamp & DI Pedals

A preamp brings an instrument signal to a controlled level and shapes its impedance, gain and frequency balance before amplification or recording. A DI converts the signal for a balanced, low-impedance connection and may include ground lift, pad and transformer isolation. Combined units can add drive, cabinet filtering, effects loops and parallel outputs while keeping the direct path stable.

Tags

Acoustic

Voiced for the wider dynamics, strong transient detail and pickup characteristics of acoustic instruments. High input impedance, phase reversal, notch filtering and restrained processing help preserve body resonance while controlling piezo harshness and feedback. Balanced outputs may also carry the corrected signal directly to a mixer or interface.

Analogue

The signal is shaped by continuously varying electronic circuitry rather than being converted into a digital effect algorithm. Component choice, operating voltage and circuit tolerances influence headroom, noise, clipping texture and the small variations in response between designs.

Bass

Voiced or equipped to retain low-frequency fundamentals and the higher headroom of a bass signal. Clean blends, crossovers and bass-specific filter ranges can preserve weight and articulation while the effected portion adds harmonics, movement or ambience.
