The Universal Audio UAFX Orion Tape Echo is a delay pedal with three vintage tape delay emulations, a perfectly emulated analogue preamp circuit and wow/flutter, true/buffered bypass, preamp on/off, switchable true/trails bypass and analogue dry through. Emerging from Universal Audio`s flagship Starlight Echo Station, the Orion tape echo gives you the magical hazy delay effects of vintage ’70s maestro Echoplex EP-III tape delays in a classy, compact package.

Thanks to the same no-compromise algorithms from UA`s award-winning Starlight Echo Station, Orion gives you the rich, three-dimensional effects of a thoroughly emulated vintage tape echo – light years beyond other tape delay pedals in its class. Built for decades of dependable performance, the Orion tape delay is your trusted companion on your interstellar journey!

Universal Audio

In the current JustPedals catalogue, Universal Audio is represented by Reverb Pedals, Pedal Amps & Headphone Amps and Compressor Pedals. Current listings include Brigade Chorus, Lion 68 Super Lead Amp and UAFX. That makes the range relevant to players looking for drive, gain and clipping, plus time-based effects and ambience. Check each model for its exact circuit or processing platform, controls, power requirements and connections, particularly where the catalogue includes both pedals and supporting gear.

Delay Pedals

Delay pedals repeat the input after a set time, from a short slapback to long ambient trails. Feedback controls how many repeats continue; filtering, modulation, saturation and mix shape their tone and prominence. Tap tempo can keep rhythmic delays aligned with a song, while presets and MIDI help when several timings are needed. Analogue, tape-style and digital designs respond differently to transients and overload. Check maximum delay time, spillover, stereo routing, trails and headroom before choosing a model for the rest of the board.

Tags

Analogue

Analogue products use continuous audio circuitry for some or all of the signal path, so clipping, filtering or modulation arises from physical components rather than sampled algorithms. The label does not guarantee a particular tone; component choice, headroom, bias, noise and the surrounding gain stages still matter. Check whether the switching, presets, control section or cabinet stage is digital when the exact signal path is important.

Buffered Bypass

Buffered bypass keeps an active buffer in the signal path when the effect is bypassed. This can help drive long cable runs and high-capacitance boards, but the buffer’s input and output loading may also change the feel or frequency response. It is not the same as true bypass. Check the buffer behaviour, output impedance, placement around fuzz and the number of other buffers already in the chain before deciding whether it suits the rig.
