Here's what Old Blood Noise say about the Alpha Haunt Streamlined Fuzz:

Two years after the pedal’s initial release, OBNE’s highly-regarded Alpha Haunt Fuzz is getting a makeover for 2021! Now in a more pedalboard-friendly package, the Alpha Haunt continues to offer users its uniquely versatile control set and explores the vast variety of sounds you can coax from its fuzz circuit. From open overdrives to squashed sputters, it’s all here and then some!

Key Features

  • Highly tweakable fuzz pedal – endless worlds of fuzz at your disposal
  • Updated circuitry and features with a more compact footprint
  • Switchable fuzz range, bias and tone control voices for further options
  • 3-band active master EQ sliders – perfect your place in the mix with full control over lows, mids and highs
  • Clean blend via Enhance control – retains string clarity and low-end response
  • Switchable Low-Pass Filter
  • Made in the USA
  • Powered by 9V DC PSU  (centre -, 2.1mm, ~36mA current draw)

Alpha Haunt is a Fuzz. That seems simple enough on the surface. Alpha Haunt also has twelve controls. OK, perhaps not then. However, these controls are highly interactive and most of the fuzz buzzwords are here; huge and sustaining, gated and sputtering, mid scooped/boosted, bright, dark, warm, chimey, ultimate clarity, utter lack of clarity, heavy, zippery, chuddy, splitty, [INSERT ANY FUZZ TERM OF YOUR CHOOSING]… – anyway, you get the point.

With variable control over fuzz gain, compression and the overall tone to set your base fuzz sound, Alpha Haunt also comes with switchable fuzz distortion range, bias, low pass filter. These react interactively with the Tone control and a parallel Enhance circuit. Used on its own the Enhance circuit acts as a clean boost, but dialed in alongside the Fuzz Volume, it brings in body and clarity. An active three-band master EQ lets you shape the output signal tonally.

Freely craft your fuzz sounds using the Fuzz (Gain), Fuzz Volume and the massive three-band master EQ slider controls, then adjust the output to your needs with the independent Master volume control.

With the Alpha Haunt, the whole pack of Fuzz tones is at your disposal. You are the alpha now!

Fuzz Pedals

Fuzz pedals produce a thick, saturated and often unruly form of distortion with a character all of its own. From smooth vintage sustain to gated, spluttering and synth-like textures, fuzz is one of the most expressive and distinctive effects in guitar history.

Players use fuzz for psychedelic rock, garage, stoner rock, doom, indie, shoegaze and experimental sounds. It can feel more like an instrument than a normal drive pedal, responding strongly to guitar volume, pickup choice and playing dynamics.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar Pedals is a useful category for players looking to shape their guitar or bass sound in a more focused way. Products in this area can help with tone, control, routing, performance or creative sound design depending on the exact type of gear involved.

For anyone building a pedalboard, guitar pedals options can help fill a specific gap in the signal chain or open up new sounds that are difficult to achieve with an amp alone. They are worth exploring when you want a more personal, flexible and practical setup.

Fuzz

Fuzz pedals create thick saturated distortion with a raw and highly expressive character that differs significantly from standard overdrive or distortion pedals. Vintage-inspired fuzz circuits remain hugely influential in psychedelic rock, doom, garage, shoegaze and experimental music.

Different fuzz designs respond very differently to pickups, guitar volume and playing dynamics, allowing players to move between smooth sustain, gated textures and aggressive spluttering tones.

Guitar Pedal

Guitar Pedal pedals and related effects are commonly used by guitarists looking to shape their tone in a more focused and creative way. Different designs offer their own response, feel and tonal character depending on the style of music and the type of amplifier or guitar being used.

Many players build pedalboards gradually over time, combining different effects and utilities to create a setup that suits their own sound and workflow. Guitar Pedal related gear can play an important role in both live performance and studio recording.
