Decadent saturated distortion just like the original JAM Rattler, with enhanced versatility and tonal options. Incorporating a custom design op-amp that maintains all the beloved characteristics of the original but now has increased headroom.

Whether you are rocking modern or vintage rigs, this rather devious snake will rattle your audience off their feet.

Key Features

  • Dynamic Tone – Pure dynamic overdrive with tube-amp feel just like the original JAM Rattler, but with more headroom!
  • Dry/Wet Mix – Blend your clean and distorted signals for the perfect ratio of grit and articulation.
  • High-Gain Footswitch – Use the second footswitch to engage a higher gain stage for bursts of increased saturation.

JAM Pedals have always prided themselves on faithfully recreating early 80s distortion pedals.

What is the Op-amp?

The LM308 chips are long discontinued and hard to find, so Jam Pedals took on the challenge of developing a custom op-amp that preserves the open, dynamic tube amp feel which made the original JAM Rattler so popular.

Overdrive Pedals

Overdrive pedals use soft or hard clipping to add breakup, harmonic density and sustain while usually retaining more pick response than heavier distortion. A low-gain circuit can act as an always-on preamp or push an amplifier; a higher-gain design may supply its own compressed voice. Gain, tone, bass, presence, output and clipping options decide how the pedal stacks with other drives. The same pedal can sound open into a clean valve amp and congested into a saturated preamp, so judge it at the level and with the speakers it will actually meet.

Tags

Bass

Designed or voiced to retain low-frequency information and headroom with bass guitar or other low-register sources. Controls may centre on clean blend, low-end EQ, compression or drive.

Distortion

Uses stronger or more deliberate clipping than a typical overdrive, adding harmonics, compression and sustain. The circuit may be voiced for amp-like crunch, high gain, or a deliberately abrasive texture.

True Bypass

Connects input directly to output through mechanical or relay switching when the effect is off, removing the active circuit from the audio path. It avoids buffer colour but leaves cable capacitance and switching design to influence high-frequency loss and possible switching noise.
