For the Fundamental Series, Walrus Audio have challenged themselves to design a set of pedals with the tonal integrity that’s required to live on a professional’s pedalboard, but with simplified controls friendly enough for even the newest effect pedal users.

Each Fundamental pedal has 3 sliders for tweaking the sound and a three-way switch for changing pedal modes. The result is a line of 8 pedals that will keep you covered from your first band practice, all the way to a sold-out arena.

Fundamental Chorus

The Fundamental Chorus is a digital emulation of a classic analogue chorus, recreating bucket brigade modulation. With 3 types of chorus algorithms to select from, you can enjoy sounds ranging from gentle modulation to 80's tri-chorus.

Designed and assembled at Walrus Audio headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Key Features

  • Chorus customisation – Allows you to change between 3 different flavours of the pedal:
  1. Light – Emulates a traditional analog chorus.
  2. Medium – Adds multiple taps to further modulate a classic chorus.
  3. Heavy – Emulates a classic Eighties effect, the LCR tri-chorus.
  • Bypass Switch – Turns the effect on and off. Hold down to engage tap mode. Hold down again to disengage tap mode.
  • Bypass LED – Illuminated when the effect is engaged, and will blink with tapped tempo when tap mode is engaged.
  • Trails Modes – Hold down the stomp switch when applying power to the pedal.

Specifications

  • Rate: Control the rate.
  • Depth: Control the depth.
  • Mix: Control the mix of the effect and the original clean signal.
  • Input Jack: 1/4-inch cable from instrument.
  • Output Jack: 1/4-inch cable to amplifier.
  • 9v Jack: 9-volt DC, Center Negative, 100mA min. (Not included)

Category

Chorus Pedals

Chorus mixes the dry signal with one or more short, continuously modulated delays. The small pitch and timing movement between the paths creates width, shimmer and the impression of several instruments playing together. Rate controls the modulation speed, depth controls its excursion, and delay or mix settings determine whether the result is subtle thickening, a liquid wobble or a broad stereo image.

Tags

Analogue

The signal is shaped by continuously varying electronic circuitry rather than being converted into a digital effect algorithm. Component choice, operating voltage and circuit tolerances influence headroom, noise, clipping texture and the small variations in response between designs.

Digital

Converts the signal or control process into numerical data for algorithmic processing. Digital designs can provide precise timing, long memory, complex routing and repeatable presets; sample rate, conversion, internal resolution and latency influence fidelity and response.
