The ThorpyFX Six Zero is an all-analogue Fuzz & tremolo pedal, designed and hand-built to look back to the 1960s and imagine what a new pedal could look and sound like now whilst operating with a fundamentally vintage sound at its core.

This unique piece of stompbox history started off as a simple question: how could you reimagine a guitar effect from six decades ago to suit the players & tone tinkerers of today? The resulting sounds range from white-hot sustain to shuddering psychedelic soundscapes, with a near-infinite number of sweet spots in between, recreating the sound of the venerable MKI TB.

Key Features

  • Vintage Fuzz Meets Pure Analogue Tremolo – a silicon take on the MKI ‘Bender’ fuzz sound collides with a Pink Floyd-inspired trem with spectacular results.
  • Unique & Rugged Design – Just like the rest of the ThorpyFX line-up, the Six Zero’s all-metal enclosure is built like a tank.

Silicon Fuzz For Days

Sometimes, less is more. In the case of the Six Zero’s fuzz circuit, it’s WAY more. ThorpyFX set out to bring the idea of a silicon version of the MKI ‘Bender’ fuzz circuit to life with the simplest possible controls. They settled on the simple combination of ‘Level’ and ‘Attack’, letting you seamlessly move between the choppy, crushed sound of gated fuzz to the intense saturation and sustain that’s turned heads for 60 years and counting.

Controls

  • Depth – How much tremolo would you like with the dry signal?
  • Rate – Dial in anything from a gentle slow wave to faster psychedelic waveforms of shimmery tremolo.
  • Attack – Find your sweet spot with just the right amount of sustain, clarity, and harmonic content.
  • Level – How loud do you want it?
  • Left Footswitch – Turns the tremolo on or off.
  • Right Footswitch – Turns the fuzz on or off.

Fuzz Pedals

Fuzz pedals produce a thick, saturated and often unruly form of distortion with a character all of its own. From smooth vintage sustain to gated, spluttering and synth-like textures, fuzz is one of the most expressive and distinctive effects in guitar history.

Players use fuzz for psychedelic rock, garage, stoner rock, doom, indie, shoegaze and experimental sounds. It can feel more like an instrument than a normal drive pedal, responding strongly to guitar volume, pickup choice and playing dynamics.

Tremolo Pedals

Tremolo pedals rhythmically raise and lower your guitar volume, creating a pulsing effect that has been used on countless classic recordings. It can be smooth and vintage, sharp and choppy, or synced to a song’s tempo for more modern rhythmic movement.

Tremolo works beautifully with clean chords, surf tones, blues, indie, cinematic parts and atmospheric playing. It is a simple effect in principle, but the right tremolo pedal can add life, motion and a strong sense of groove to otherwise static parts.

Fuzz

Fuzz pedals create thick saturated distortion with a raw and highly expressive character that differs significantly from standard overdrive or distortion pedals. Vintage-inspired fuzz circuits remain hugely influential in psychedelic rock, doom, garage, shoegaze and experimental music.

Different fuzz designs respond very differently to pickups, guitar volume and playing dynamics, allowing players to move between smooth sustain, gated textures and aggressive spluttering tones.

Tremolo

Tremolo pedals and related effects are commonly used by guitarists looking to shape their tone in a more focused and creative way. Different designs offer their own response, feel and tonal character depending on the style of music and the type of amplifier or guitar being used.

Many players build pedalboards gradually over time, combining different effects and utilities to create a setup that suits their own sound and workflow. Tremolo related gear can play an important role in both live performance and studio recording.
