Source Audio’s Encounter is more than just a delay and reverb pedal; it’s a gateway to atmospheric soundscapes. Based on the legendary Collider Delay + Reverb, Encounter sports a similar layout, while adding a wide-ranging collection of new and otherworldly delay and reverb effects.

Packing a mix of brand-new sounds and reimagined favourites from Source Audio’s range of delay and reverb pedals, Encounter is sure to conjure up a wealth of ambient sounds.

Key Features

  • Ambient Gateway – The Encounter comes loaded with 6 onboard Delay engines (Noise Tape, Resonant, Drum Echo, Echoverb, Kaleidoscope and Helix) as well as 6 Reverbs (Hypersphere, Shimmers, TremVerb, Reverse, Lo-Fi and Swell). Reverbs and Delays can be used together, as well as dual reverb and dual delay.
  • Analogue Dry Through – Keep your signal path pure with the Encounters’ completely analogue dry through signal path. Perfect for keeping the dynamics, harmonics and overtones of your signal intact.
  • Built For Any Rig – With 8 Presets accessible via onboard controls and 128 presets available via MIDI, multiple expression control options, as well as a versatile mix knob and global Kill-Dry mode, integrating the Encounter to any rig couldn’t be simpler.
  • USB Editing – Connect the Encounter via USB to the Neuro desktop or mobile app for even more editing capabilities as well as downloadable presets and more!

Unrivalled Versatility

All six delay and six reverb engines can be used individually or in pairs (that includes dual delay or dual reverb combinations) with full MIDI functionality and stereo ins & outs. Routing options include series, parallel, or split stereo. Each footswitch engages or disengages its own effect, essentially providing the functionality of two separate pedals in one unit.

New Engines

The new engines, such as the Hypersphere reverb, Kaleidoscope delay, and Shimmers, are among the most beautiful and imaginative in Source Audio’s history. Returning effects such as Reverse, Lo-Fi, and Swell reverbs, along with the Helix, Drum Echo, and Resonant delays, have been reimagined and enhanced with expanded parameter controls, unlocking limitless sonic possibilities and creative potential.

Category

Delay Pedals

Delay pedals repeat your guitar signal to create echoes, rhythmic patterns and spacious textures. They can be used subtly to add depth, or more dramatically for dotted-eighth repeats, slapback rockabilly sounds, ambient layers and experimental soundscapes.

Different delay types offer very different characters, from warm analogue repeats to clean digital echoes and tape-style modulation. A delay pedal is one of the most creative tools on a pedalboard because it can support simple lead lines, fill space in a mix and completely transform a part.

Reverb Pedals

Reverb pedals add the sense of space around your guitar, from small room ambience to spring tanks, halls, plates and huge atmospheric washes. They can make a dry guitar sound more natural, more polished or much more dramatic depending on the style of reverb used.

A subtle reverb can sit almost unnoticed behind your tone, while ambient and shimmer reverbs can become the main feature of a sound. Reverb pedals are essential for players who want depth, atmosphere and a more three-dimensional feel from their rig.

Ambient

Ambient guitar effects focus on atmosphere, movement and texture rather than aggressive drive or traditional dry guitar tones. Long reverbs, modulated delays, shimmer effects and looping pedals are often combined to create cinematic soundscapes used in shoegaze, post-rock, experimental and soundtrack-inspired music.

Ambient-focused pedalboards are often built around layering and dynamics, allowing simple chord progressions and melodies to evolve into huge immersive washes of sound. Stereo operation, expression control and long signal chains are particularly common in ambient guitar setups.

Delay

Delay pedals repeat the guitar signal to create echoes, rhythmic patterns and spacious textures ranging from short slapback repeats through to huge ambient soundscapes. Different delay styles such as analogue, digital and tape-inspired circuits all produce their own character and response.

Delay is one of the most creative effects available because it can add depth, groove and atmosphere without overwhelming the original guitar tone. It is widely used across rock, blues, indie, ambient, progressive and experimental music.

Reverb

Reverb pedals recreate the reflections and ambience of physical spaces, helping guitar tones feel larger, deeper and more immersive. Spring, plate, hall and shimmer reverbs all offer different textures ranging from subtle room ambience through to huge cinematic washes.

Modern reverb pedals are often central to ambient and atmospheric pedalboards, but they are equally valuable for adding polish and dimension to clean tones, lead parts and studio recordings.
