Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy with Tap Tempo

The Deluxe Memory Boy takes Electro Harmonix's Memory Boy up a notch. Instead of just getting 550ms of pure analog delay heaven, EHX now include a tap tempo (with 5 note divisions to choose from) several modulation modes and an expression pedal input! Not content with great tone in a simple box, EHX claim that this is "the most flexible analog delay ever designed" and we haven't found much to argue otherwise just yet!

"Were the Deluxe Memory Boy just to feature the standard analogue delay with modulation, as made popular the original Memory Man, then it would be a fine-sounding value-for-money pedal, but the extra features put it into another league – one inhabited by pedals that usually cost a lot more. It's a definite Guitarist Choice!"

Here's what Electro Harmonix say about the Deluxe Memory Boy

The Deluxe Memory Boy is the newest delay from the Memory Man family. Quality IC's deliver warm and organic analog tones while "tap tempo" allows you to always be in sync with the groove. Choose five note divisions for metronomic variances. Sweet modulations can be set while the expression pedal input gives you external control. The Deluxe Memory Boy is the most flexible analog delay ever designed.

In the studio or in performance The Deluxe Memory Boy will become a mainstay in your arsenal.

Delay Pedals

Delay records the incoming signal for a chosen interval and repeats it after the original note. Feedback returns repeats to the delay line, while tone, filtering, modulation and saturation determine whether echoes remain clear, darken progressively, wobble like tape or degrade like analogue bucket-brigade circuits. Delay time and rhythmic subdivisions govern the spacing and musical pattern of the repeats.

Analogue

The signal is shaped by continuously varying electronic circuitry rather than being converted into a digital effect algorithm. Component choice, operating voltage and circuit tolerances influence headroom, noise, clipping texture and the small variations in response between designs.

Tap Tempo

Measures repeated foot taps and converts their interval into an effect rate or delay time. Subdivisions translate that pulse into dotted, triplet or other rhythmic values, while averaging and range limits influence how quickly and accurately the tempo settles.
