Origin Effects are a leading guitar and bass pedal brand, renowned for the quality and sound of their products which use best-in-class components. Their BassRIG Super Vintage overdrive and preamp pedal is designed to recreate the bombastic tone of the iconic Ampeg® SVT® bass amp and its gargantuan 8×10" speaker cabinet — in compact form!

Legendary SVT® Tone

Released in 1969, the SVT® was one of the first high-powered bass amps available and it remains a popular choice among the some of the biggest names in the business. It's famously known for sounding absolutely huge — with incredible low-end depth, a versatile control-set and a growling distortion when cranked.

But of course, an Ampeg® SVT® is notoriously difficult to transport! That's why the Origin Effects BassRIG Super Vintage is a no-brainer for the contemporary player after that coveted Ampeg® sound; harnessing every nuance of the SVT® but in a far more portable package.

Detailed Sound

The BassRIG Super Vintage features an entire valve amp circuit recreated in miniature form — to yield that organic analogue tone. It boasts all of the controls you need to precisely craft the perfect bass amp tone, with a powerful 'Blend' knob that adds in your clean, unaffected signal to preserve clarity and low-end punch.

The XLR-equipped DI output’s analogue cabinet simulator provides a massive sound direct to your mixing console, while the ¼” output features Origin Effects' proprietary 'Amp Out' EQ. This post-drive filter ensures compatibility with any amp and cab, which means that you never have to compromise your clean tone or struggle with the house backline.

Preamp & DI Pedals

A preamp brings an instrument signal to a controlled level and shapes its impedance, gain and frequency balance before amplification or recording. A DI converts the signal for a balanced, low-impedance connection and may include ground lift, pad and transformer isolation. Combined units can add drive, cabinet filtering, effects loops and parallel outputs while keeping the direct path stable.

Tags

Analogue

The signal is shaped by continuously varying electronic circuitry rather than being converted into a digital effect algorithm. Component choice, operating voltage and circuit tolerances influence headroom, noise, clipping texture and the small variations in response between designs.

Bass

Voiced or equipped to retain low-frequency fundamentals and the higher headroom of a bass signal. Clean blends, crossovers and bass-specific filter ranges can preserve weight and articulation while the effected portion adds harmonics, movement or ambience.

Cab Simulator

Recreates the strong frequency filtering and resonance imposed by a loudspeaker cabinet and its microphone. It removes the harsh, extended high end of an unfiltered preamp signal and may offer cabinet size, speaker, microphone, position and room choices.

Overdrive

Uses moderate clipping and gain-dependent compression to add harmonics while retaining much of the original note contour. Bass filtering, mid emphasis, clipping symmetry and available headroom decide whether it sounds open and amplifier-like, tightly focused or heavily saturated.
